The nurses that actually come and help with mums shower are very good however they are Drastically under staffed. I have been informed by a number of the nurses that I should be getting a phone call first thing in the morning as to when to expect the nurse however when I rang today at 11:00am to find out if a nurse was coming out, Mel who answered the phone sounded unsure as to what was happening but sent a message to the nurse coming today. When the nurse rang immediately afterwards, she was unaware that she had to call clients first thing in the morning.Obviously agency nurse. This service relies TOO Heavily on agency nurses who are not always familiar with the procedure. This can result in distress for some people.. I would love to have given a higher rating but unfortunately system efficiency and adequate staffing is lacking.

I was told that they were unable to cover shower shift Wednesday morning, not good enough when vulnerable people are relying on that support. Showering is a basic need & to not offer the support required leaves me without showering.for six days & my hair not washed for over a week. As a registered nurse for fifty years & one who worked for a support service, where we never left a shift uncovered, it’s distressing. The idea was to have support which is conducive to a positive recovery.Saturday 2 JanuaryTold support worker would be here at 9:45am but no has arrived. I rang to find out when they were coming & was told that due to a software glitch no one would be coming today. I wasn’t permitted a shower on Thursday reducing me to only two showers this week, supposed service was shower support three days per week, & it’s three days since my last shower. I made it very clear that I wanted a shower today & would not be put off! I will be giving feedback to the MRU! I wonder what happens to those clients who are not able to stand up for themselves, no doubt there are many clients who don’t have the care worker support as arranged & go without the service.
