Boobera Lagoon
A permanent water hole atop the artesian basin, this lagoon is a protected site for aquatic and bird life.Access to the site is via dirt track that can be washed out in the wet and require a 4WD, but in the dry the track is generally accessible for any vehicle.Administered by the Boobera Lagoon Trust, water sports are banned on the site. The trust does provide and maintain a toilet facility on site.Traditional Bigambul and Kamilaroi custom asks that visitors not stay after sundown, or overnight.

Boobera Lagoon
Having been born at Goondiwindi Q. during the year of 1944, a large part of my first eight years was spent with my grand parents, who lived on and with the Boobera Lagoon, until my grandfather's death. My memory of the lagoon is clear and everlasting. Before it became a plaything of my fellow Europeans. I will now search family photographs to post and share. But at a later date.

Boobera Lagoon
Great culturally, but desperately needs some TLC! Especially needs revegetation along the waterways ASAP!
