Squeakygate Retreat and B&B

Just got home after spending 7 nights at the Squeakygate. The room was very comfortable and bigger than what we expected. I easily spent many hours in the evening sitting on the balcony listening to the country. Very soothing and relaxing which is why we were there. You get a beautiful view of the Clarance River from the room. Cheryl is a great cook and both Cheryl and Lance go to great lengths to ensure your comfort. We highly recommend the Squeakygate Retreat and B & B.

Stayed for 4 nights with my wife. Had a lovely time and excellent food. Beautiful B&B perfect location over looking the river, and not another house near by. Very convenient to quickly drive to Maclean or into Yamba.Also lovely dog Bella who you can ask to come out and pat, but never jumps or is in your way.Thanks Cheryl and Lance.

Dodging bushfires and then road closures sent us Googling accommodation this side of Yamba, and what a little gem we found. Lance and Cheryl (+ Bella the dog and the brown frog) you must be so proud of your unique and welcoming hideaway. We loved it and say a very hearty thank you". Best pancakes I've had in years."

Lance and Cheryl are wonderful hosts and the Squeaky Gate B&B is a great spot to stay. We stayed in the large room which was very comfortable and cosy. We felt like we were staying in someone's home - but it's not intrusive because we had a separate area. Cheryl cooked us a lovely dinner and a nice continental breakfast which was great because the B&B is off the beaten track.

My wife and I booked to stay for 3 nights and by the end of our stay, we wished we didn’t have to leave. Lance & Cheryl greeted us like long lost friends and immediately made us feel at home.Nestled on the banks of the Clarence River, you can enjoy the lights of Maclean at night across the water. It feels like you are a long way from civilisation but you are really only a short drive to both Maclean and Yamba.You can spend a relaxing time sitting on the veranda reading or just looking at the scenery, talking to Zac & Zoe, the resident canines or visiting the chickens.I can recommend Squeaky Gate Retreat to anyone who is looking for a relaxing stay with genuinely friendly hosts in a place that allows you to just relax and rewind.

Beautiful B&B right on the Clarence river, the room was nice and spacious. Great breakfast in the morning. The hosts are very nice and accommodating. I absolutely recommend trying some of the hosts own wine, perfect for sitting on the balcony and looking at the view.This was a great place to stay, loved it.

Stumbled upon this place by accident- they were nothing but lovely from start to finish, and went out of their way to make sure we had somewhere to stay and were comfortable and felt at home. They even cooked a home cooked meal just for us as we arrived late, and beautiful breakfast in the morning. The surrounding, cleanliness and cosines were all there. Such a chill at home let atmosphere. We were so glad we found them!

This review might sound a bit sugary, but it's just the impression this bed and breakfast left on me. My family and I stayed at the Squeakygate Retreat in early January for one night. It was one of those places that makes you want to come back. It may not be right straight off the highway, but it is definitely worth spending the time to make the small drive out. We were in Australia for two weeks and this was the best place that we stayed in and our best night of sleep. It was relaxing, and our hosts, Lance and Cheryl, were very accommodating. Even though we arrived a bit late, we received only smiles and good humor. Across the street from the B&B are lovely views of the Clarence river, which you can also see off of the deck along with a view of a beautiful field. Our room was clean and comfortable and there were all of the essentials (sugar, pots, pans, glasses, etc.) that we needed in order to make food, along with tea, coffee, and biscuits. In the morning they prepared a lovely breakfast for us :) Thank you for the truly amazing time! We hope to come back and visit in the future.

Stayed at Squeaky Gate Retreat for three nights. The facilities were good and room was clean and comfortable with every attention to detail. The hospitality from the owners, Lance and Cheryl was warm and friendly. We requested evening meals and the genuine home cooked meals were delicious and there is a wide variety of beer and wine at reasonable prices to choose from. Highly recommended for a peaceful, comfortable get away.
