Wineglass Bay Walk

Wineglass Bay is a beautiful beach area in Tasmania's Freycinet Peninsula, and the walk is well worth the effort. Many make the trek up the stairs to the lookout, which affords incredible views and nice photos, but the real reward comes from descending the stairs on the other side and actually walking the 2kms of white sand beach of Wineglass Bay. Go early enough, and you'll be alone and feel like a castaway on a tropical island. The waters are crystal clear, bar some seaweed, fish and floating seagulls to enhance the snapshots.For more excitement and exertion, return to the carpark via Hazard Beach, across the Isthmus. The walk starts back near where the stairs meet the beach. It's a combination beach/bush walk which follows the coast and circles the mountain. Not for the unfit, but a nice challenge with more incredible views. Take water and wear comfortable shoes.
