The Spice Lounge Indian Cuisine
The Spice Lounge is now our regular Indian place since the closure of a similarly named restaurant in Pennant Hills. The food here is tasty and authentic. We usually order at least one platter entree. The naans, curries and rice follow. Ideal dining experience is in a group of 4 or more so you can taste more dishes. They even have Kingfisher beer which is a perfect match to the spicy food.

We were visiting Sydney, had a tiring day at Luna Park and we thought we would like to finish the day with some Dal and Rice.I was going through the reviews, when my husband said they can’t so bad to get simple dish like Dal Tadka wrong..It made sense, we have seen restaurants fail at difficult dishes but not at cooking Dals usually.We ordered 2 different dals as takeaway, they charged us more than what their website stated. I’ll attach the bill to this review.Food arrived, and we were hungry. Sorry to write but their food spoiled our rest of the evening.Dal Tadka tasted bitter as if the mustard seasoning was over cooked before Dal was added to it. It tasted horrible. To make it taste even worse they used some rancid oil to cook the Dal Tadka.Dal Makhani was slightly less distasteful than Dal Tadka out of the two. All in all, it was a total disaster.We ordered one butter Naan, it had no butter on it. I smelled it to be sure, but there wasn’t any butter.In India, where I grew up the morals around cooking for money are very clear. Don’t feed people what you can’t eat yourself. Maintain some dignity around using quality ingredients at least even if you can’t make the food taste delicious.The Spice Lounge, you should rather close your business instead of feeding people filthy food.

Complete garbage service. Grandma handling the till had some attitude, couldn’t move us a table over, away from a loud party of 5. We were the only other people in that restaurant other than that group. We were very excited to have food at granny’s restaurant but she had just a stank demeanour. Maybe she just had a bad day but it doesn’t mean you completely disregard a family’s request to move a table over from a loud group.

I had dinner here a week ago and had a good experience. The fish in the entree was nicely spiced and cooked. I had Railway goat curry which I really enjoyed. Would recommend.

I tried 4 different mains, entee is good.Papadam with mint and yoghurt dip excellent balance. I don't like gulab I can only eat one. Coulliflower Bezule a very tasty red spiced dish florets of Caulliflower explosion of savoury joy in the mouth It's an absolute no1 on the menu in the snap, try it with a meat dish like Korma Chicken. Wines on offer were good.This is a good Indian restaurant I'll be returning to this gastronomic and cool place.4 stars going on to 5 pending more enjoyment later...

We ordered Seafood Molley, Chicken Desi, Lamb Biryani, Matar Mushroom, Malai Kofta, Naans. We were quite excited at first but when the food came, they were OK.Seafood Molley promised with scallops that were non existence, the fish were cooked from frozen, it was tough to chew. The only Curry I enjoyed was kofta. The biryani was not nice at all. The rice was a bit sticky and not freshly made and did not have that flavor we expected. Portions are small.Unfortunately I've tasted better curries and Biryanis, so definitely we can comment on the quality and taste.When we raised the issue with the curry, both the mom and the son were unapologetic.For a restaurant that boasts serving the best curry in Sydney, it was a bit of a disappointment I must say.

Yummy naan bread! The flavour of the vegetable korma was nice but I didn’t like how there was tiny square diced vegetables in it.. and only two small pieces of broccoli. I would prefer bigger bits of vegetables like 5cm long at least, and more variety. The pappadums were not nice and need to be fixed. The rice was perfect. Fast service.

Nice modern Indian lounge on a quite street in the hart of Pyrmont. Great flavors and spices, really yummy! Vibe was excellent. The staff are very friendly and attentive, especially the young woman who was waiting us that night. Would highly recommend the Spice Lounge, go try it!
