What a find after a days driving in the outback to stumble across this gem.Great location, great food.There is not really any indoor dining so wear something warm if the sun's going down.A few people were swimming in the lake, there's change rooms/showers.

stopped for a swim . facilities looked great. amenities available for wheelchair accessibility. toilets hot showers . diner closed when we were there but heard great things. beautiful spot in barcaldine

Surprisingly, it's a fantastic location for watching the sunset/sunrise and enjoying a peaceful atmosphere. It could also be ideal for stargazing. The diner looks cozy with toilet/shoeer, would like to try next time.

Disgusted.While I was using the shower facilities next door to the Cafe a staff member, I assume is the person who runs this Cafe, came into the toilet block and began harassing me while I was IN the shower that the showers cost $5.This is NOT true and I have reported it to the council, I sincerely hope unwitting travellers who are much kinder then I haven't been sucked into this little scam, pretty disheartening that's for sure.

Tonight I dined with T̷́͝h̵͍̑e̸̛͝ ̴̛̼V̸̟̈́o̶͓̐í̶͕d̸̽̉.The Internet told me there was a little diner in Barcaldine I could grab some food from.I drove down a dark highway - the sun was well gone, and the gibbous moon hadn't yet risen. Finally, The Internet told me to turn off through an anonymous-looking chainlink fence down a dirt track. Then, off in the distance: a little block of light in the endless gloom.Inside, a lone woman swept the already clean floor - because she was bored, she said.I ate my steak sandwich at a picnic table on a verandah thing that looked out over either a body of water or a sporting field, but it was so dark I had no idea which. The call of a plover echoing across the emptiness didn't help much, but the boats I eventually spotted did.A truck paused outside briefly but I didn't see anyone get in or out.My sanger was pretty good and came out really quickly. 10/10 wouldn't change a thing.
