The Convict Trail
It's been over 10 years since I've walked this track. So very happy to see the work, and detail that has gone into the upkeep and maintenance of this historical and fascinating site. The info boards are highly detailed, and I love the added little flea disks with fun little facts!! Great work by the locals and avid historians who have preserved and improved the quality of the site dramatically.

The Convict Trail
Great trail to soak in the views of the river.Trail is nice and wide with a well formed track. Space for a few cars at the bottom. There are POI every few hundred meters with a story or some facts about the history along with figurines or props. Will come back and do a longer stint

It is a nice walk of immense historical significance and I wish there was more information and signs. Once you start walking up the track you don't know what the finish point is. There are no lookouts on the track and towards the end you start to wonder where does this finish and where can I find some good lookouts of the Wiseman's Ferry.

Nice historical walk, gradual climb up with informative postings on the way up, you can continue along Finches Line to do a longer 10km loop if feeling energetic.

It’s a great interesting trail to walk before or after camping somewhere in the area. Loads of information on the history, gives you food for thinking if you have a bit of empathy and the ability to visualise. I woud recommend making the full trail including Finch’s Line.

The Convict Trail
An engineering marvel constructed by convict labour from 1826-1836, this was the original road connecting Sydney and Newcastle. Please wear a hat, put on sunscreen and take water. I wouldn't recommend going too far as the road" peters out to a bush track and there are no directional signs."

Simple route. Convicts trail in Darug National Park. We walked further on and did a big loop circa 10km. Devines Hill (45 mins) up Old Great North Road, then turned left at the Great North Road sign post to follow the loop around Shepperds Gully Circuit (30 mins). Then once back at the sign post, follow Finch's Line trail all the way to Wisemens Ferry Road (1.15 hours) then back along the road to the start of Convicts Trail (20 mins) where we started. There's space for 3-4 cars at the entrance of Convicts Trail which is about 1 minute drive from the ferry crossing. Good walk, plenty of hills and a clear path the whole way.

So much history at this place, blows my mind what the convicts went through to build this engineering masterpiece linking Sydney to the Hunter Valley and Newcastle

It’s an easy walk with some cool history; very doable- easy to do with kids but not the most interesting walk for more experienced hikers
