We stayed at the CCHV for 4 nites and enjoyed our stay. Amenities were clean and tidy. Being between Agnes Water and 1770 wasn't too much of a bother as we had stayed in Agnes previously. We will be back on our next journey north.

The park could do with some major tree pruning, luckily it was not windy during our stay as overhead was a lot of dead gum tree branches and trees that didn't feel safe to be under. The roads around the park were pretty ordinary and the cabins look like they need a good makeover with some pressure washing. The amenities appeared clean and tidy.

Really happy with our stay here. Even though it's named for a problematic figure the staff and amenities here were great. Was nice to be away from the crowds and have a short walk to the beach and 1770 marina.

A group of 5 with a large dog across 2 powered sites spent 4 days here during Xmas. Such a lovely campsite, we were near the trail that leads to the surf beach which is only 10-15mins walk away (it was beautiful). Our site was set amongst plenty of bushland with Kookaburras, Kangaroos and plenty of bush turkeys too. Lovely quiet nights sleep and wonderful to be woken up by the sounds of birds.Only 20-30mins walk into town and 1770, which was nice to do as we were on holiday and it’s another option if you don’t want to drive everywhere all the time. The facilities were always kept clean, nice hot showers and clean bathrooms and kitchen area. The staff were friendly and very helpful also! I was so pleasantly surprised by this campsite, especially as it was a busy period. The only thing we were concerned about was the amount of ants nest across both our sites, however they soon retreated and we used tarp to cover the nests.I would absolutely recommend this place to stay and I would definitely go back to stay. Also, bonus points for being dog friendly!Thank you Captain Cook crew, keep up the fabulous work you are doing.

Great position, clean amenities, on-site take away cafes. Love the bush settings. Will come back on the way down to Melbourne.

I loved this place. I loved the town of Seventeen Seventy and the area around it. Spent close to a week there and only returned to the Brisbane area to attend medical appointments.

The caravan park is fairly cramped and the facilities are old and run-down. The wifi drops out and is essentially useless. We stayed one night and there was no hot water (yes, we were the first up and in the showers that morning). The managers were friendly and checked us in after hours as the self check-in wasn't working. After hearing people race about 1770, we were happy we'd only booked one night.

We spent a week at the Captain Cook Holiday village. We camped then stayed in a Villa for our last night. Unlike ALL other caravan parks in town, there is plenty of shade and they are dog friendly. Management were really accommodating, amenities were clean & accessible. We loved the wildlife around the park and also the walk to the beach. Highly recommend trying the sushi van parked out the front as well. An all round great vibe, pack repellent! The sandflys are relentless around 1770

Very very basic place to stay. If you're looking for something off the beaten track & quiet, then this place is for you. Make sure you pack insect repellent!!! Our room was booked for a family of 5, came with a bar fridge, ants everywhere (even in the linen) and the linen (eg mattress protectors) were dirty/stained. I'd recommend staying elsewhere, especially if you're a family.
