Warramate Hills Nature Conservation Reserve
Access to the Warramate Hills Nature Conservation Reserve is via the car park at the end of Yarraloch Way, Gruyere. The reserve is home to the Briarty Hill Communications Tower. A 4.3km walk via the tower access road up takes you from the Warramate Reserve car park down to the Woori Yallock Creek then up a long steep ridge to the tower. It takes you through beautiful bushland with the type of eucalypt forest changing as you climb higher. There are only limited views of the valley on the way up and none at the top as the tower is surrounded by trees. You can come down a more direct route via another ridge which has a partly overgrown walking track (even steeper, and slippery when wet). This route is shorter and has some great views of the valley. It is not shown on Google Maps and the start and finish points are not marked. A contour map is highly recommended to make sure you identify the start and finish points and stay on the ridge.

A beautiful area for a walk, did a bit of a loop walk including a visit to the Trig point. Stunning views

Google maps has the entrance in the wrong place. Search for 7 Yarraloch Way, Gruyere VIC 3770 and that should avoid being led up private roads.

Easy to navigate, rewarding views. Has been nice and green with swollen creeks during late winter early spring.

Most roads that are indicated as entry points are fenced off as private property. Not sure why.. we found a spot to park on side of road and walked in and down to river. Nice walk quite steep.

Go for walks on the weekend. The parking area is small so good to come early. If it rains heavily the track next to the creek can get flooded.

This is not really much good for hiking. No parking either. The tracks are ordinary, too. There is nothing to recommend here.

Warramate Hills Nature Conservation Reserve
I went on night ride starting at the main entrance gate, I rode into and over the top of the reserve and came out through the back of the reserve where I had to lift my ebike over 1 x gate, under 1x gate and over 1 x fence to get on killara rd to ride home to Bayswater. I followed what google maps told me to do the whole way so I didn’t feel bad about riding through what appeared to be private property with an anti social element(Meaning all gates were closed with no signage to tell where to go. It was confusing even with google maps)
