Almost got ripped off, would recommend to really source for second opinion or second quotation to compare. Luckily did not proceed with them or else will be regretting it for sure.

Don't mix this business up with Star Automotive. This is the mechanic next to the police station. I have been going there for ages and have never had any problems at all. They are a lovely couple who run it and nothing is to much trouble and I always drive away thinking omg my car is sounding fantastic and driving so smooth. Today I didn't even know it was running. Could not recommend a better mechanic.

Have been using Northern star motors for the past few years. Wouldn't go anywhere else. Highly recommended, great service and quality workmanship.

I took the car for check engine light and told to the receptionist that if they can fix the engine light, then do the interstate inspection for me. She agreed and also stressed that there's no reasons for her to do interstate inspection if they can't fix the engine light because the car will not pass the inspection if the engine light is not fixed. But when I came to pick the car, even they couldn't fix the engine light and the receptionist gave the reciept to charge me for the interstate inspection. I said I was going to pay for the interstate inspection because I haven't asked to do the inspection if the engine light is not fixed. She said I didn't tell her that. When I said I will take it to police, she said she's charging me the inspection but the fee for keeping my car in the shop 3 days. Then she printed another reciept and charge me. Her attitude with me was so rude although I was taking the car there many times. I paid for what she wanted, ripping off me. I have never taken my car to that shop again.

I have been taking my car there for a couple of years now, And every time I ask them to check the front right side of the car for a noise I hear constantly. They kept telling me they couldn't hear anything and that they had pulled it apart and nothing was wrong with it! I found out the hard way that I was right, it just happened to be on a drive to catch the ferry from Devonport (missed the ferry) A $35 drive shaft kit would have fixed it but because they didn't fix it I now have a major repair job(took the car to the Hyundai dealership) I am extremely disappointed and angry that I've wasted thousands of dollars because of their incompetence. My advice to anyone thinking of using these butchers... Don't bother, spend the extra money and take your car to a dealership that have qualified specialists. Northern star motors will try to sweet talk you into believing they are looking after you when clearly they're only interested in your hard earned dollars!

Unprofessional, Expensive of the service. No good customer service too. They don't even have any chairs for waiting customers too. That's how they deal with the customer. I spent $110 for inspection and got me wrong checklist so that they can make money to fix it.

I took my car to a dodgy mechanic and paid $1000 plus waste 2 months for nothing as they misdiagnosed the problem. Friend recommended me to check Northern Star Motors and i'm very glad to go there. Bel and Roydon did the basic check and knew straight away the problem of my car and fixed it before the promised time. Very satisfied with their work, very reliable, friendly and honest also expert in doing their job. Thanks to them I save a lot of money and time. Highly recommended.

Misquoted me by $30, also needed work done after my service and receptionist told me they wouldn't charge me the labour fee again, which was a lie.Dishonest or incompetent. Not returning.
