Mount Canobolas
The mount area was updated and modernised in 2022 and is very user friendly. There is now more indigenous recognition and the original directions to reach visible town has been repurposed. Views are wonderful, walking trails available. The road up is windy and rough but worth it!

Beautiful drive to the mountain top! Even on a hot day, it was cold and windy up there though.

The history, views and quality of the mountain top facilities are first class*.It's a pity the roads leading to it are pothole hell's (we travelled from Lake Canobolas to the Mount, then into town). We thought to ourselves, if this is a tourist destination then the roads would be better maintained.

Relatively easy drive from the main road to & from Orange.Condition of gravel road section on Old Canobolas Rd is excellent, However would not recommend 2wd drive car on that road in wet & icy conditions.Be wary that the Mount Canobolas roadway from Lake Canobolas rd route may be closed during Icy & dangerous conditions.View from the top is impressive! It is 1395 ASL so expect it to be fresh & low cloud. Was greeted by a pack of Kangaroos at the summit so expect to see wildlife. There are at least 3 different tracks to hike down from the summit.

Great place to go hiking if you are reasonably fit. Very picturesque. Some water features. Paths are clearly marked.

We weren't technically at Mount Canobolas last weekend as the SES had the road blocked off. We were in the Glenwood State Forest beside the conservation park, but you get the idea of what it was like.Just magical. This was the first time I'd seen snow falling.

Excellent. This place can be such a different place from one day to the next as the weather plays an important role.

terrifying drive up, and even more terrifying drive down. absolutely horrendous potholes, please be careful.but simply put; an incredible experience, i would definitely recommend coming here. i could spend hours marveling at the view, and all the nature. there are many little butterflies and birds flying around the place and i think that there are kangaroos here too but none were visible when i was here.it's incredible how well preserved everything is. there's information boards telling you about the area and its history, there's a board with an aboriginal dreamtime story about 'the three brothers'. the mountain was littered with small colourful flowers. i sat in the grass and watched the flowers dance in the wind (i was having a poetic background character moment, my grass allergies were not). surrounding me were a series of bushes, trees and shrubs.also be sure to bring your coats; i came during the summer and there was still a cold breeze. i can't wait to come here during the winter so that i can see the snow.

The views are obscured by the gun trees and I imagine this will only get worse in the future as the trees grow. If you're interested in hiking, there are a number of walks here. The road up is patchy. It's pretty easy to get to, so if you've got nothing else to do...

It is an amazing place to visit, good for tracking. The view from the top of mountain is awesome. It has bushfire marks on the trees as well.
