Incredible!We had a mixed berry tart ($9.50) with the juiciest blueberries and delicious crumbly biscuity tart base.Will be back for more surprises - their Paris Brest and Mille Feuille amid other numerous choices

Chez Alex is an unassuming cafe on the main strip of Paddington. It's one of the few cafes in the area open on Sundays.Behind the glass counter was an array of cakes and pastries. I'm not sure if they're all made in-house but they looked gorgeous.We had a coffee and an almond croissant. The croissant was pretty good, crisp on the outside and packed with a fairly dense filling. Went well with the smooth coffee.It seems like a popular cafe with a constant stream of regulars popping in for takeaway.

I bought an apple pastry slice, it looked pretty good so I thought I'd try it, and it was probably the best I've had. I'm going back for sure, the coffee is also excellent

We had a fantastic little cake/tart from Chez Alex - almond meal and pear? It was not too sweet, perfect texture and amazing. Highly recommended. The cake looks much better in real life compared to the photo :)

Far from being the “best baker ever” this is a sandwich shop masquerading as a bakery. Junk furniture fills back of store and 2 sorts of bread only. If you want a real baker go to #bakerbleu in Double Bay. Cheaper too.

So they have now put up a sign about where to order and pay and things seem much smoother. Excellent. Coffee’s good.
