Akala hair
Very nice, modern Japanese hair salon in the heart of Ultimo and a short walk from Pyrmont and Haymarket. I tried Akala for the first time and was very impressed with the men’s haircut I got with the creative director. He suggested a totally new style and look for my hair, and I was rapt with the final result. It was an instant transformation for the better.

The hair salon is very close to my home and workplace. All of Japanese hair stylists are very professional and experienced.That have done my hair color and straightening for couple of years now.Whole range of Aveda product.Recently I had my touched root and head spa.Was so amazing.Only short walk from Pyrmont, Ultimo or Darling harbour.They are busy so best is to make a booking.

Today was my third visit to Akala hair. The past two visits were amazing, the hairdressers were really attentive, helpful, listened to my needs and gave me the haircut I wanted.But today’s visit was disappointing. I showed the hairdresser what I kind of hairstyle I was looking for with photos and explained what kind of hair cut I wanted.However, I just got my hair cut really short when I specifically mentioned I want it to be a length where I’ll be able to tie and use my hair claw.

Was welcomed and got my hair done by Haru. Very friendly, great customer service and she understood my needs very well. The salon overall is clean and comfortable. Definitely a satisfying experience (love my hair also) and will highly recommend Akala Hair for anyone.

I made last minute booking with promo, just to cover my grey hair. The salon vibe was nice and bright, there was only one hairdresser and he looked after another customer and I. He was friendly and apologetic the whole time for the wait as he’s by himself that day. The wait wasn’t that long tbh, and even with language barrier, he made sure to confirm with me a few times so he understood what I wanted. I’ll come back again for the good value & service :)

Very very good hairdresser. My hair is average (at best) and they did one of the best cuts I’ve had. Cool building too. Mens haircut. Hairdresser: Naoki. Highly recommend.

Tomo is the the best! I have my best hair cut ever.And the chair for hair washing like everyone else said is super comfortable. The whole experience is very relaxed and the result is very satisfying. Absolutely will be my regular hair salon.
