Great Lakes Motor Inn

Good clean rooms for a quick weekend away to Forster. Friendly helpful staff. Close to everything of interest. And very cheap rates. But when things are cheap there will be some downfalls. The place is a little run down. We had trouble receiving hot water to our unit, shower took ages to heat up. Plus some of the locals around the area can be a touch noisy. If your not too fussy, the great lakes motor inn is good value accommodation.

On a heavily booked weekend this was the only place we could find with vacancy. Price was way too much in my opinion. Air con was so loud it was deafening in a 40C heatwave with only one window that could be opened. The bed was horribly uncomfortable and the shower leaked hot water straight out the wall. Reception was rude on arrival and not open Sunday.Grateful for the vacancy however that is the only positive I can offer.

Excellent service provided to me outside of business hours when I was in a predicament without any notice prior. Cant thank the owner and or manager enough for helping myself and my children. Excellent service. Spotless and tidy rooms at a great price.

The bathroom looks updated, the room was clean. The bed was the worst of it. Very hard and woke up with a headache every morning I was there. The reception hours aren’t flexible and I was charged twice for my room by a guy that was off with the fairies. I wouldn’t recommend going here. Yeah it’s cheap but you get what you pay for.

Given our last minute decision to stay two nights in Forster post new years, we were stuck on options. And although the cost of the room was on the low scale, the mattress was extremely well aged and uncomfortable. Though the literally 2 minutes walk to the beach made it tolerable.Upgrade the mattresses and this would improve the stay dramatically.

Don't dismiss due to affordable price. Brilliant location, short walk to beach, pub, eateries and laundromat. Room is clean and tidy, nice ensuite.

I've rated it 5 stars but let's clear something up: the price is a large factor here.The rooms are serviceable, and clean, but are also very basic. However, you are directly across the road from Main Beach in Forster and the cost of these rooms is insanely cheap. I've spent more money taking my family out to a meal.For the price, this place is quite a good deal.

Last resort! It was last room available on a busy holiday time, it was dark, damaged cupboards, air-conditioning hardly worked and so noisy. Bed ok, hot water almost none. we almost walked out

NEVER STAY HERE - doesn’t even deserve one starI booked this booking for the Forster beach motel formally known as Great Lakes motel on booking.com and had put in card details for payment. Upon arrival the office was closed and had a number to call for after hoursThe cleaner told us the whole motel was closed and we couldn’t stay but we were confused as we had just booked it on booking.com we decided to call the after hours number anyway and the man who answered (Wane I think it was) agreed to meet us to check us in. We walked back to the office to wait for Wane and the cleaner approached us again and started to yell at us and get angry that we were waiting to be checked in and yelled at us to leave, we explained we had booked online I showed him the booking and told him we had already contacted Wane and he was checking us inHe still yelled at us told us we couldn’t stay and said no one can stay at the motelWe were confused about whether we were welcome or not this man who is the cleaner was claiming to be the managerWane arrived and checked us in and we paid the 100 dollarsWe would’ve cancelled the whole booking however it said on booking.com we would receive a 100 dollar cancellation feeWe were concerned about the fee so we decided to check in however felt very uncomfortable after the whole ordeal and we were very shaken upWe decided to book another motel (forstay very nice and welcoming, highly recommend and rooms are 10x better) and explained to Wane that the whole situation was very unpleasant and left us very upsetWe had not touched the toilet or even got in the bed we had only put our bags in the room so the room is completely untouched and I took photosWane said we couldn’t get a refund however I think we definitely deserve a whole refund as the experience was horrible and we had to move to a different motel.Wane did his best to make it upto us but unfortunately the damage had been done by the cleaner and we would like our refund as we do not want to pay for a motel we couldn’t stay in... no way I was sleeping there I was almost certain the delusional cleaner claiming to be the manager was going to kill us in our sleep.Trying to organise a refund through booking.com
