Coles Burnside

Came in from the local quarry to grab the usual stuff for our Saturday overtime BBQ for all the guys and the lady said I have to self serve unless I’m buying cigarettes. Which I wasn’t.I refuse to scan my own groceries no matter where I go, just because. Each to their own so think what you want.The lady on walked me over from her register more than happy to stand there and watch me self scan. The entire supermarket had three customers present.Yet she was in the station where they sell cigarettes and clearly still have a register to serve people from that side.Long story short she said “everyone has to self scan now” despite her doing nothing and there being no customers. and that’s the way it’s going? Saturday 7:35am 13th Aug 2022(Unless you’re buying cigarettes maybe?)So no BBQ today for all the guys.Pretty annoyed, but thought I’d leave this if any managers even pay attention to this. Obviously if her claim is correct that this Coles now only offers self serve she has nothing to worry about. I do find it odd though that there still was a register facing her side for customer service where she was standing.I’ll try again next week but if it happens again guess I’m not coming back to this supermarket.I will remove this review if it’s not the same next week.As a Coles Customer and Shareholder I hope to be able to remove this review.

Went there to shop on Sunday night. I had very big shopping. No register was open. There were only two girls at the service desk. I was being told by one of those girls that only self checkouts are opened at night time. Both girls were talking while standing at self checkout. No help was offered. We had to scan such a big shopping on a small self checkout counter without any help.

All checkouts are self service now so if you have a big shop you have to scan and bag it all yourself. No Thankyou, will not be back. Also staff just stand around looking annoyed if you ask for help

i came in on tuesday night and this young female i beilive named adel, she was extremely helpful with my items and helped me bag and scan my whole shopping cart,extremely great service,very thankful

Absolutely ridiclous service, stand at the register to be served while staff ignore you and tell you to self serve and walk away mid self serve to help someone. Everytime you ask for help they sigh at you and are extremely rude about actually serving you. Will be going to derrimut from now on as the customer service is absolutely appalling and only self serve and staff refuse to help.

I do not understand the logic of getting rid of all the regular checkouts. Firstly, having a large amount of shopping and being expected to scan it all whilst an employee is standing there is honestly a joke. I fully understanding have the self serve checkouts, however making them ALL self serve is the dumbest thing I have seen whilst shopping. Secondly, what if there are customers who do not know how to use the regular checkouts? Are the employees just going to stand idle then?

I love this coles! The girls who stock the shelves are the sweetest girls i’ve ever met! They always help me and put a smile on my face! Boys can sometimes be a little unhelpful but they’re still very nice! 9/10 I wish they still had the proper registers! Good Job though keep it up guys!

I was at self-service and an employee, who I believe was named 'Juliet' started yelling at African customer and saying racist comments towards him. Disgusting. It is 2023 and this old lady still has the audacity to be racist. Hope she gets fired.

Your typical Coles. Clean, tidy and a pleasant atmosphere.They lost one star due to having no cashiers to serve you. Everything is self serve which is a pain when you have a trolley full of groceries to scan and bag by yourself. Also, older people sometimes struggle operating self serve.What happened to customer service?" Next time
