South Yarra Tailoring

Arthur at South Yarra Tailoring is an old school professional Tailor. A friend recommended I take my favorite dress to be resized. I had already been turned away be another alteration company. Arthur not only resized my dress he also refitted it to my shape. I can't commend his services highly enough.

I cannot recommend Arthur enough! Not only did he fix my dress within a 24 hour turn around, to the point that you couldn't even tell that it had been repaired. But his lovely disposition allowed me to enjoy a very pleasant conversation learning about his career and family history. Considering he has been tailoring for over 60 years, I can honestly say that I will not be going anywhere else for my tailoring and repair needs. The works he showed me speak for themselves, and I can hand on heart say that as a personal tailor, Arthur is all you could hope for and more!

This guy has been a tailor since he was 16 years old, he has been doing it for over 60 years. Would have to be one of the best tailors in Australia!!! Real magician with a needle. Would highly recommend.

Paid 30 dollars to have a pair of pants tailored. Really quick service, I dropped off at 9 am and they were ready by 12. I would recommend​ going here.

I’ve been using Arthur as my tailor for over seven years. He is a fully bespoke tailor who can perform any alteration if it is possible. From altering new suits, to reshaping the shoulders of second-hand suits, to trouser repair, he can do it all. Old school knowledge and service that is very hard to come by.

Overpriced. Slow. Unprofessional. Brought my shirt and pants in to have 4 basic alterations done was told one week, it seemed longer than other tailors but I decided to do it based on the other Google reviews. I came back a week later, he didn't finish my shirt and he couldn't find my pants, I took my shirt back anyway and had to search his workspace for my coat hangers, as he didn’t give them back with the shirt. He was pointing to random customers pants and asking if they were mine because he didn’t know what my pants looked like. Came back after the weekend, he found my pants but when I took them home they were hemmed too short, they looked ridiculous, when I sat down the pant leg would go half-way up my shin. I took it back and he said it would take another few days to get them re-hemmed, came back for the fifth time and my pants finally looked normal. The alterations were fine but for the fact that each alteration cost more than other places, and everything took so long (nearly 2 weeks and 5 visits) and all the other hassle it wasn't worth the time or money and I should have gone somewhere else. Also he has no prices displayed in his shop or website and just pulls them out the top of his head, with his thick accent I misheard the price of one of the alterations and it turned out higher than I thought it was.
