About the Business

Hall 1 - ACT Sport and Recreation |

The Hall Showground is a distinctly rural location located in Gladstone Street, made up of several distinct areas. The complex is well endowed with mature shade trees both native and exotic. The area is serviced by a large toilet block which also has showers that can be made available to hirers upon request. There is an unsealed parking area off Gladstone Street.

Field 1 is a combination field and had an irrigation system installed several yearsback to allow the local junior and senior Rugby teams to play there. The field is not floodlit.

Field 2 is a dry land equestrian arena and is used by numerous equestrian groups including the Hall Pony Club. The area is surrounded by a pipe-rail fence. There are associated stables and sheds and these are maintained and managed by the Hall Pony Club. There are 3 power boxes located along the pipe rail fence.

Field 3 is the covered BBQ area. It comprises an old rustic structure that is open fronted and has 3 wood BBQ’s within. Firewood is providedfor the BBQ’s. Use of this field also comes with access to the cricket ground (the Rugby field - field 1 - forms part of the cricket outfield, the remainder being dry land) which is only suitable for very social use.

In the centre of the showground there is a large Hall which is leased to the Hall Progress Association and can be hired out by contacting the Hall Rural Centre. The tennis courts that sit beside the Hall are also managed by the progress association.
Across the footbridge and over the creek there is a large Polo Cross facility with a canteen and toilet block and a separate storage shed. The Polo Cross area is maintained and managed by the Polo Cross Club.

The Hall Showground is home to many large events and has been a favoured picnic location for Canberra family’s for over 50 years. On the first Sunday of every month the large Hall Markets are held. The markets with a variety of arts and craft and various produce are run by the Hartley Lifecare and are the major fundraiser for programs supporting adolescents with a disability. Also held at Hall Showground in early March of each year are the National Sheepdog Trials, which isa premier event on the sheepdog trials circuit.
