Maddy's Dog School

I did not know Maddy but am so happy I met her. One of my dogs got lost and left Centennial Park. Maddy generously helped us look for her including temporarily minding 2 of our dogs in her van while I searched on foot until we found our dog. She was so wonderful and I would definitely trust my dogs with her.

We decided to engage Maddy’s services to (a) assess the progress and development of our strong-willed 8-month old Beagle, Toby and (b) address, redress and arrest specific concerns/issues from having observed the positive experience and outcome our neighbour and friend’s puppy had with Maddy.Maddy offered a different and fresh or refreshing approach – helped us rethink our approach by understanding the drivers to change inappropriate behaviour, providing/equipping us with the tools/tool-kit, useful practical tips necessary and buttons to push in order to drive, motivate and achieve behavioural change.Maddy is personable and professional. The engagement (consultation process) overall was extremely pleasing with very satisfying, rewarding results. Excellent!

My daughter’s dog Karis is a 3-year old rescue Ibizan Hound, an adorable dog but with selective deafness when she chooses, a desire to explore the wide world, plus very fast long legs! Towards the end of March we sought Maddy’s help to train her recall skills, and now in early July there is such an amazingly noticeable difference in Karis’s road manners. Karis has (for most of the time, but we still have to keep a sharp eye open in case wander-lust overcomes!) understood that if she keeps track of us, keeps returning to us, then life is happier and safer and more fun for her as well as her humans. We have to thank Maddy for patiently enabling Karis to understand this important message, pretty hard for her to grasp as she had had no training when my daughter got her a year ago. Plus, since six weeks’ ago, Karis has had to learn to share her humans with a new baby that my daughter has had, and this has been facilitated greatly by Maddy taking Karis out for training walks with other dogs, including her own, so that she has interesting friendships. Maddy has made a world of difference in Karis’s recall skills as well as other interesting things like sit, sit-down-stay, playing with balls, potty training, anything that we asked her to help with. Maddy is generous in her dealings, a safe pair of hands to leave Karis when they are out, and it is heart-warming to see how much she obviously loves Karis (and all other dogs I have seen her with). Definitely a Dog Person!

Amazing knowledge and incredible patience :)

Maddy was absolutely amazing with our German Shepherd puppy who enjoyed going to puppy class every week. Maddy was great at adapting the lessons to each individual puppy and gave us the skills to continue with training at home. She was also lovely and patient, and genuinely cares about the well-being of all the puppies she trains. Very highly recommend her!

Our gorgeous Weimaraner puppy Frankie absolutely loved Maddy! We were very thankful to come across such an amazing dog trainer that worked wonders. Maddy came to our house for three seperate sessions and worked on sit, stay, drop, ‘leave it’, come, introduced Frankie to walking on the lead and helped us find ways to manage and reduce separation anxiety. We would highly recommend Maddy and will definitely be keeping in touch with her in the future.

Really impressed. Maddy has a warm, genuine style. Our puppy loved spending time with her and seemed to absorb everything she taught and we learnt some great techniques.Maddy listened, took notes and was there for us outside the sessions if we needed.She's great, 100% recommend.
