The Great British Chippy
Yeah, the place has gone downhill big time. It's very expensive too.We decided to eat in as we came from Fremantle, instead of our food being served on actual plates, they now serve food on flimsy red plastic baskets with a layer of baking paper (which just dissolved in the tommy K). The first disappointment with the red baskets is it reduces your portion size, which is annoying as you're there as a treat and, as per British tradition, I expected a good portion.

Ordered large hake and chips tonight, awful! The fish was well over cooked and the batter was super greasy. Ordered a large hake was definitely small.Portion size is a joke.100% would never return or recommend. So disappointed!!!!!!

A taste of home, this place is a proper chippy, with proper portions.Me and my brother-in-law decided he was gonna treat us to good food, we had a fairly big order for 4 adults. The staff where polite, and very hard working, we had maybe a 15 minute wait which I thought was a good time for a such a busy place. The order was correct and fresh. My partner was super happy with the piece of fish and taste of it. The Haggis was good. The burger was a little greasy but had good flavour. And the sausage and chips was perfect.Overall the young girl that served us was efficient and polite, the food came in good time and was all fresh, and it was reasonable priced for the amount we got.If your in the joondalup, currambine area definitely get yourself into The British Chippy, and if you live a further a field then they have you covered too, they have a eating in area to sit down and enjoy the great food.

Really disappointed yesterday Valentines day with my take away order. Had ordered Snapper and chips and my fish was definitely not snapper. I was given 2 small very flat over cooked pieces of fish. I realise it was very busy and the wait time was very long, over 30 mins but that is not an excuse for poor quality food. I have always used the British Chippy since the shop opened but will definately be going elsewhere in future. Such a shame.

I find this place hit & miss, depending on staff & stock. Had one good, then two poor experiences previously, but because it is open when other nearby fish & chip places aren’t, decided to give it another chance for a recent Sunday lunch. The food was hot & yum (on the two dodgy occasions, the food was dry, bland, and lukewarm). I note that this time they had cod in stock, so that clearly makes a difference. The hand-cut ‘British style’ chips are always a highlight here (make sure to ask for them).

Not so great tonight ! Horrible baskets to eat out of. ! Where did the plates go ✅ much smaller portions. fish batter was soggy when I asked for well done. No crunch and mushy peas were cold. Seemed a very young and inexperienced staff. Husband couldn’t even eat his. Shame as we used to visit and love this place. No music on or atmosphere anymore either I Hope Steve sees this and rectifies

Ridiculously expensive and has gone down hill big time. I used to love going here as a treat and a wee taste of home, won't be going again that's for sure! For starters, the child serving was confused when we asked for a supper then charged us seperately for fish and then the chips. I used to love a white pudding supper here but now they charge more and give only one pudding instead of the usual two. Snapper was overcooked as were the chips. Very disappointing for the price they charge!

It used to be great! But now ... [May 2023] fish served in a stupid basket, not a plate - this allows them to serve a smaller portion. Haggis used to be 2 pieces, now it's 1 piece for the same price. The owner used to come around offering free tea - not anymore. They made us wait 30-40 min before informing us that out sit-down order had been logged as takeaway. Never going back
