I have visited some of the community development projects supported by INF and they are inspirational. We hear so much bad news in the world, but in this small but majestic country, INF is raising people out of systems of poverty by empowering people with information, relationships and advocacy.Once INF has supported a worker to build up the community in a village, lives are changed efficiently, effectively and sustainably. I remember smiling mothers telling me - 'before we were alone and without hope, now we are together and we can do anything'.I personally know some of the people working for INF and their integrity and holistic dedication is simply outstanding. I'm very proud to be a supporter.

Love the vision and heart behind INF Aus’ work, both on the ground in Nepal and locally within the Australian context. Really appreciate how INF Aus’ response to poverty in Nepal is holistic, transformational, locally-empowering and community-focused. Having had the privilege to personally visit some of the projects that INF Aus supports through local partners in rural Nepal, I have seen the dedication, keen sensitivity to local context and servant-heartedness of both INF Aus staff and staff of partner organisations. It’s wonderful that INF Aus also works to involve the Australian Church, individuals and community groups in developing a practical and holistic response to poverty in Nepal.

I contacted the Nepal Fellowship about a proposal to help with the University education of a scholarship winning medical student in Nepal. The aim is to continue his Covid affected medicine degree. This student lives in one of the most impoverished areas of Nepal where the local hospital has positions for twelve doctors and only two of these positions are filled. I wasn’t asking the charity for a share of their donations as I offered my guarantee that I would raise and otherwise guarantee the funds for this university course. To the charities credit the did spend a long time to respond so I trust that they gave this opportunity the consideration that it deserved. I offered to meet the decision makers but I was not even asked one question. My biggest concern was the excuse for the refusal to help this student. The charity stated that they were ‘not effectively able to do the due diligence to verify’ the student in Nepal. I therefore wonder about a charity that has a impressive NSW base, with fabulous fund raising skills but states that they do not have the skill base in Nepal to do simple due diligence. How do they control the spend otherwise? It comes down to the usual question with charities - how effective is the dollar donated by the time it works its way through administration and finally hits the ground in the target country?Imagine the good one doctor could do in his community in a lifetime and INF didn't step up.

INF Australia is a fantastic NGO committed to working in partnership with communities in Nepal to deliver sustainable change. INF Australia works closely with INF Nepal which has a long history of working in community health and development in poor and marginalised communitites of Nepal.
