17mins from Bingara and a must visit. Spooky, eery, enthralling story telling of an atrocity that occurred in broad daylight in this area. It is unique in being the first and only crime of this nature, that saw some degree of justice.Ensure you download the soundtrails app and pick the Myall Creek tale as you walk around. It answers all the questions that the site does not, as the descendants of the original parties tell the tale.

A sober reminder of harsh times and terrible deeds. Well told. Follow the winding memorial path to read the full story. It feels tranquil and forgiving.

Visiting the Myall Creek Massacre Memorial was one of the most important journeys I feel I've taken in my life. To touch the earth and pay my respects to all those who were brutally murdered. There is a deafening silence in this country and so many lives lost we will never really know about. If you are hiking out there (we hiked from Delungra, camped at the rest area and then hiked out to Bingara after visiting the memorial) I'd suggest bringing your own water. There are 3 tanks at the memorial site but they were bone dry when we went. The creek itself seems to be getting polluted by agri run off, hard to access and did not taste good even after filtering and boiling.

One of the most amazing experiences. The importance of this site and it's importance to reconciliation should be embraced as part of Australia moving forward and understanding the past at the same time.

Such an important and now sacred place to learn and remember from history. These places should exist all over the country where massacres took place to know and learn from history.

This is quite a sombre location. What happened here should never have happened to anybody.

Memorial place for first nations people. Time to reflect and remember the massacre that happened here. Well maintained walking path and signs and seats along the path. Toilet and tables and chairs.

The Myall Creek Station Massacre. More Australians need to know about this. On 10 June 1883, 28 Wirrayaraay people (women, children and old men - because the younger men were cutting bark) were murdered by 12 white stockmen. They’d been given refuge at Myall Creek Station by a station hand. After 2 trials in Sydney, 7 of the 12 stockman were found guilty and hanged. This massacre is significant because it marks the first time white men had been executed for killing Aboriginal people.Unfortunately though it didn’t end the massacres. They continued, unreported, until the 1920s.
