Jackaroo Treehouse Rainforest Retreat
Had a fantastic stay. In the middle of the rainforest this hostel had an awesome relaxed vibe which i really enjoyed. The other guests were friendly and sociable which made my stay better. Elliot at reception was brilliant, answering my many questions and was super friendly which again made the hostel experience even better. He kept the kitchen spotless and was always there help. Only downside is being far away from the town but most people are happy to split a taxi here. Thank you elliot and the team!

Very nice hostel. Fly screens on kitchen and other windows. Nice communal areas and helpful staff. Very clean but hot kitchen.Only negative is lack of places to hang clothes and towels while in the shower. And blinds on ladies toilets would help as people in laundry room can see in.

We stayed for one night and had a wonderful time. The scene is incredible, inside the forest, with breathtaking views. There is a nice pool and clean facilities all around. There is a laundry room, kitchen, shared spaces, and a bathroom.Family rooms are great, and we loved ours.Bingil Bay is very close by - there is a wonderful coffee house, a lovely beach, a jetty, walking trips, and many other activities available. It's a great place for a relaxing but fun vacation. It's mostly for young people, but families will also enjoy it.

Jackaroos is one of the best hostels I’ve been to on the East coast of Australia, along with the most accommodating staff. I’m awful with names I’m sorry, but the manager is super lovely. He went above and beyond for us, giving us a lift when he went to the shops so we could go fishing and showed a genuine interest in our day, he’s also always busy making sure the hostel runs smoothly which is does. The English fella is also amazing. He’s very understanding, easy going, friendly & easy to talk to; he knows a lot about the area and is always more than happy to help. The other Australian guy who works there is also very understanding and funny and entertaining to talk to. All the staff keep a level of professionalism whilst keeping the whole vibe friendly and not formal or serious. The newly renovated cafe/ bar down stairs is amazing, lovely chilled out atmosphere & gives a British kind of craft beer pub vibe if that makes sense? Lovely decor, clean black and white tiles & you can enjoy a coffee in the morning in here with an array of fresh cookies whilst over looking the rainforest. There’s a lovely cafe which is a 20 minute walk down the road which has live music in the evening and serves big delicious pizzas for about $18 ( if you go in the evening, you can see fire flies and glow worms on the way! ). I’ve heard a lot of people say skip mission beach if you’re not going sky diving because there’s not much to do, which is wrong. Me and my friends loved it here, there are rainforest walks, lots of places to go fishing (and catch sharks from the jetty) if that’s your thing & the local town which is a fair walk (but you can jump on the shuttle bus which takes people to the sky diving centre to get there if you’re cheeky) has a lovely bar, an amazing coffee shop selling an array of local honey, house made dark chocolate, treats and goodies, and the beach has a really cool rope swing hanging off a tilted palm tree with an island in the background (fantastic photo opportunity) and the beach is flowing with fresh coconuts which you can crack open yourself using the coconut cracking station about 50 metres to the right of the rope swing (if you’re facing the beach). Also the rope swing is just infront of where the road cuts off if you were to walk directly to the beach from the skydiving centre (3 min walk). I give jackaroo and the location a 9/10. The hostel is amazing, very clean, the staff are incredible and friendly, and waking up in the morning, grabbing a fresh barista made coffee from downstairs and sitting in the hammock or on the sofa on the first floor decking over looking the rainforest in the morning is unbeatable. The only downside is the walk to the town, but I had a fantastic time chilling at the hostel, and like I said you can take the skydiving shuttle into the town, which will take you back to the hostel once the others have completed their sky dive which gives you about 4/5 hours in the town or sitting on the incredible beach… oh, and the hostel has a resident cassowary! Amazing place. Would 100% recommend and it gives you a nice break from the hussle and bussle from the business of the east coast. Thanks jackaroo for the amazing experience.

It's okay but not more than that.Rooms aren't clean (had 2 big spiderwebs in mine), there are no lockers, so there's absolutly no space. It's not allowed to hang up your stuff outside of the room, there's a washing line, which isn't under a roof, so if it's raining there's no sence to hang your stuff there. You need to walk nearly 3h from the greyhound stop towards the hostel so you can callculate a taxi on top of the accomandation.Wouldn't go there again...

OMG what a SANCTUARY and with the BEST views!!! Such friendly, accommodating staff...LOVE this place...not only does it serve the BEST coffee, lunch and dinner (the bagels are sooooo yum), but it is also opened until 10pm and licenced! What a great place to chill out in the middle of the Rainforest!!! The pool looks incredible and just such an interesting mix of visitors from all over the world...cannot wait to return! Thanks for being there!!

One of my favourite hostels I’ve stayed in so far! Robert is very quick at replying via email which I really appreciated and he’s always around cleaning the hostel, too, which is great. Very clean, great kitchen space and loved how easy it was to make friends in the common area. One improvement I would give is to add more plug/ USB sockets in the rooms because ours only had one which made it hard for everyone to charge their devices.

One of the best hostels I've ever stayed at. Excellent service, staff were looking out for everyone and keeping the place clean and tidy. Offered advice on what to do and things to see in the area.Facilities were great, kitchen was spotless and nice and cool.Outlook on the rainforest was unbeatable, the most idyllic setting for a hostel, to listen to rainforest noises all night was something special. Rooms had aircon and great beds.Overall I would highly recommend, especially over one of the bigger chain hostels. Wish I stayed another night or two. 100% coming back if I'm in FNQ again.

Jackaroo Treehouse Rainforest Retreat
Lovely place just very far away from anything so you have to spend more on taxis. No shuttle bus or courtesy bus. No bar but still not allowed byo, which I think is a bit unfair when there’s nothing else to do at all in the middle of no where. Rooms clean and pool is nice. The duvets don’t get cleaned unfortunately which is a bit gross also
