The last review does not surprise me as I had a similar experience ie interrogated and gaslit by Leanne who I had never met before over nothing, workers sent to watch me pack. You have to realise it is a family business and Leanne is just an employee who fires the bullets made by Lorraine (now carked it) or her daughter Fran. They want to sound nice to maintain PR for the business.Family businesses can work great. The people who look after security screens in my home are one. But in an environment where you need trained professionals in key positions rather than family members it can be problematic. If you don't willingly embrace 12 step at this place you'll be out the door.I personally recommend SJOG Richmond for an amazing experience and they're doing renovations too. Evidence -based programs, not this utter garbage.

I spent 15 days at South Pacific Private in late 2022 for methamphetamine addiction. The nursing staff were incredibly kind and professional, and I felt that the group therapy facilitators had my best interests at heart. SPP believes that trauma is central to a person's addiction - however I feel that it is not possible to go this deep within a 3 week time-frame. Their intentions are good - I truly believe this, but I'm not so sure that I agree with their philosophy that all cravings & temptations spring from trauma. After leaving SPP I went to St John Of God in Richmond and completed their 3 week in-patient program.Despite myself not getting as much out of the program at SPP as I would have liked, I'm extremely grateful for their kindness and the care they showed towards me.Lastly - I want to say that nurse Ginger is a credit to South Pacific Private's nursing staff. Her kindness and advice really helped me during my stay.Thankyou.

I’m not sure how this business works. I contacted SPP and asked for a quote so could financially factor in inpatient program and extended support and family program for my son, including the added services not covered by private health insurance3 seperate calls to get a price estimate. Nope. No joy. They couldn’t / wouldn’t provide documentation so I could make informed financial consent. That’s not even legal.I was told they would discuss $ if my son was approved for admission.I’m now looking into a different facility.Have now raised this with exec at my health fund-

After going through severe trauma I was in a very dark place and didn’t want to exist anymore. I booked in to SPP for 3 weeks, something I never thought I had time for before. It was the best decision I’ve ever made in my life, the experience completely changed me. It’s been 4 months since my therapeutic stay and my life has never been better. I learned so much about myself and the people in my life, I feel like I’ve been given super powers and can cope with anything. For anyone looking into going there, I can not recommend it highly enough. If you have the right attitude and can trust the process, you will see the whole world in a different light and find a new lease on life. I am eternally grateful to all of the staff and the amazing brave people I met there who had the courage to own their problems and find a way to a better place. I’m still in contact with quite a few people and all of them are doing amazing and feel the same way. I feel lighter, stronger and have found a sense of optimism that I had lost completely. Thank you SPP. Xx

I’m 10 months into recovery from a Gambling Addiction I left SPP last May 2022!! Can’t wait for my 12months gamble free!! Not long now. But I will tell you now SPP saved my life!!! Whilst I don't believe this type of environment will suit everyone I was in a place of absolute desperation and was my last resort before I took myself to a place with no return. I learnt heaps about myself and my felt very empowered when I left. I loved the staff and I met some amazing people that have become very important to my recovery. There were challenges and there were many times I wanted to leave. No phones, no sugar, no tvs or contact with the outside world for 21 days is what I needed. The stuff I learnt will stay with me forever. I am a completely changed Man because of SPP and continue to grow because of the lessons and tools I have obtained by this program. I would encourage anyone who is wanting to seek healing and recovery from what ever your issue is to have chat to SPP. I cant recommend this place highly enough. It honestly saved my life and I would go back in a heart beat if I needed too. (Fingers crossed I never have to) Since leaving SPP I have begun to live and love the life I have always dreamed about. Thank you SPP

I was admitted to SPP just before the Easter long weekend for Alcohol & Other Drugs. I went with a proactive mentality ready for positive change in my life. However I was admitted before the long weekend and told by nurses that I wouldn’t be reviewed, or assessed by psychiatry until after the long weekend, 4 days into my 21 day stay, despite having 48 hours to complete the initial psychiatric review.Assessment by GP on admission was half arsed - I had an active ear infection I raised to the attention of the nurses and GP, but was not confirmed or investigated by GP/Nursing staff. I raised with Nurses that I had a script for medicated ear drops which I asked to be filled which was ignored/forgotten. The on-admission bloods requested by the GP the Thursday we’re not drawn by the time I discharged on Sunday. Nor was I informed or consulted with regarding the medications I was charted and my rights, there was little patient oriented care. There was no bedding provided on arrival and no pillow provided during my 4 day stay despite asking. I asked for some food to be provided when I arrived and didn’t receive my first meal until i raised a complaint with Nursing staff.I had difficulties with Nursing staff daily in administering my regular medications and often had to become terse to get access to medications for underlying chronic conditions. Being a smoker I was aware of the nicotine ban and knew I would have to remain abstinent, I was then given a ‘client contract’ around smoking to sign despite not having smoked since admission. Another patient was caught smoking on grounds and disclosed he had been doing so for 11 days, was only given the same contract after having been busted. I felt singled out.Daily walks were restricted until day 3 when I raised a complaint to nursing staff and were only given because I raised it as a complaint. On the 4th day of enduring the above I decided to discharge from SPP, I felt my well-being and recovery were not important to staff. On discharge, the NUM tried to convince me to stay and said that SPP was going through accreditation and I must have “fallen through the cracks”.Since leaving I have continued my recovery through another inpatient facility where more was achieved in the first 3 hours, than was achieved in the first 3 days.Never again.

Very comfortable and nice, gives a lot of information, but it is a rehab, you have to put the work in when you leave. Not a fix! The staff are fantastic and the food great too

Second time there in two years thinking I had missed something????. , I did their acclaimed changes program. Psychotherapist , not great and invalidating. Was hi jacked after week of being in Beechwood by Leanne programs manager , a therapist asked if can I speak to you for minute in room and Leanne was in there. I admitted to group I had a coupe of small puffs of an intoxicant the night before. Never met Leanne before she was aggressive rude . She gas lit me and said I was aggressive and scared of me? I m a gentle quiet introvert. . Leanne retraumatised me bringing a fellow worker to watch me unpack as she was throwing me out of beechwood. She was waiting in a room unannounced and I was led into the room by Eliza who lied to me suggesting she just wanted a quiet word with just me. ?She said the whole group was angry at my honesty . I was suicidal and a foolish fellow patient called police later that night and they were knocking on door at home at 11pm. Do not got to this hospital . It’s a cult with 12 step groups as their only suggestion and cutting off people from outside world . I asked the nurse for single room as I snore and have been abused by men. They suggested I was lying to get a single room? Even though the men the 2 men complained about my snoring and bullied me. They sent nurses every hour to check if I was snoring. I remember because I didn’t sleep that night . , .. They told me I didn’t. ? After being aggressively thrown out by Leanne not one person from Spp contacted me or showed any empathy or care. I rang and spoke to Fran on that Friday she said she heard about what happened and it’s a relapse . I’m welcome back. as I’m part of family????They call it a community when in there ,but everyone in that hospitals health fund is paid 18000 dollars to spp for each person to be in there. When I rang Katy today from mood program she basically said you are not welcome back which contradicted what Fran told me. She said we think you are an angry person? I said who is we? She said Leanne , she’s a good therapist??? And referred me on to dbt . At other hospitals which I’ve been to before. It doesn’t say much for spps claims to be Australia’s leading addiction hospital and Frans credibility telling me I’m welcome back I’m part of the family. ?which hurt. Also told me daughter going to Paris I wish I could afford To go to Paris..I don’t have substance addiction. Do not retraumatise yourself by going to this facility .I will be making an official complaint to Hcc regarding Leannes abusive behaviour that put my life at risk . Her character assignation gaslighting and group bullying and self proclaimed diagnoses. Do yourself a favour. Steel clear of spp. They claim to have all the formula and Pia Melodie’s model as a bible for healing. I see a properly trained psychiatrist who is not contacted to spp to advocate their program. which they would be paid a lot of money for two 15 min sessions per week. Don’t go there . I’m suffering more because of being there. While in the hospital with Carl as My primary therapist who was great . No signs of me being aggressive or people being scared of me.I was actually scared of the loud mouth bullying in there.Leanne was aggressive and abusivetowards me then gas lit me and claimed I was aggressive and emotionally disregualated and scared of me. ?? Leanne who is not over qualified as a therapist .. Eliza the unnatractive transitions therapist and all the staff under Leanne supporting her abuse.which could have led to my suicide The .Ideology of spp with no outside professional assessment of the therapists in SPPs conduct making them accountable. Also selling Pia melody books etc, everyone should be given them with the expensive cost of stay. The hypocrisy was that most people in beechwood were vaping. Which is a drug!!

My wife last year went into SPP. She was treated poorly. Don’t get me wrong there were some amazing staff like Imogen to name a few. However she was almost assaulted by a patient who had already been flagged and SPP & they did nothing about it. My wife was left traumatised, and SPP DID NOT APOLOGISE TO HER. Even after she expressed herself how poorly the situation was handled. Her therapist who I believe was named Bec did not treat her with respect or care that a therapist should, my wife would call me crying complaining about this particular therapist on a daily basis, and how she let this psychotic person verbally abuse her and try to attack her. Very very disappointing. Seems they only care to cater for ‘bums on beds’ instead of the well-being of their patients.
