Old Walhalla Bakery (No Longer Operating)

We asked for and received a refund. It was uninhabitable. Two old queen mattress at the front door, bedding had been slept in and old food in fridge. No wood for inside heater and wet towels left on beds. This place looked so quaint on line - old but quaint- but beware it’s nothing like the pics. Renovations are reported to be in progress but check they have been done before booking.

We received a BAD review is BECAUSE WE HAVE NOT RESPONDED TO THEIR COMMUNICATIONS (post stay) and have not told them when we have used something in the kitchen (when they have left a note: feel free to use anything in the kitchen). We are greatly disappointed with the above review as it is no where near accurate or true.Contrary to the review, we have cleaned the property as best as we can. We have thrown the rubbish in the council bin and replace rubbish bags for the rubbish bins. All dishes were left in the dishwasher to run (as requested by Shaka). Beds were made as requested by them as well.When we confronted Shaka Webster about her bad review, we receive the ONLY response:The worse part is you didn't return calls and messages to communicate. You could have let us know you used all the eggs that were in the fridge. We got there... no eggs."Is there an obligation for us to return their calls and provide a review post stay? Do we have to report everything we used in the house post stay?With regards to the floors covered in mud etc. We were not going to be walking bare footed in a house when there were broken glass in some parts of the house. Were we expected to mop and vacumn the house again after stay? I've never ever heard of any such requirements on guests.IT FEELS LIKE WE PAID MONEY TO BE HOUSE CLEANERS.I was charmed by the heritage house but am disgusted with the hosts.On to a more detailed review. clearly

The Old Bakery is in a prime position in the centre of town. It is rustic accommodation, exactly as advertised. We found it clean, well kept and very comfortable. There was plenty of wood for us to use and everything we needed in the kitchen. I would recommend it for any groups wanting the real Walhalla experience and to just get away from it all for a few days. The owners were also very good communicators before, during and after our stay.

I love staying up at the Bakery. I have been coming up and staying for over 8 years now. The house is old and worn but I think that's part of the charm of the place. Its always been clean when I have been up there and there's plenty of firewood. My kids just adore it and even though there's no wifi (and they are teenagers...) we love getting away from it all. The Websters have always been wonderful hosts.

The Bakery is a great little place to stay in Walhalla set in beautiful surroundings.. The outdoor area is great for bbqs and plenty of space for kids and pets to run around safely.. totally recommended

Hi everyoneI have been to the bakery with my family and friends. we found the house neat and clean. The bakery has everything you need for a nice little break from a very busy life. With no mobile phone reception, no internet and no TV reception you could really relax.Walhalla is beautiful historic town, we had a long walk throughout the town and the bakery is one of the best accommodation if you are traveling with a group. Great value for money.The best part is the different types of birds that greet you in the morning on the backyard.We will definitely be coming back to stay at this bakery.Thanks .

I have been to The Bakery twice before, both times were with groups of close girlfriends during winter and am looking forward to my next planned visit in the warmer months. We had an amazing time roasting marshmallows over the campfire in the backyard and snuggling up in front of the wood stove in the living room whilst sipping on our Bailey's in the evening. The alfresco area at the back was wonderful for the impromptu BBQs. The house is wonderfully rustic, bringing a sense of history from yesteryears. I loved being there and can't wait to be back again with another group of friends...

If you want to waste your money this is the place “WALHALLA BAKERY” when we arrived bed sheets were messy and dirty. Toilet and bathroom were in bad condition. Matteress standing next to wall and behind beds. Don’t even talk about electricity the power switch will keep tripping even if you use microwave and kettle together. It was 3 degrees we couldn’t even turn on heater as they will keep tripping power. We had 2 kids aged 2 and 3 they just suffered the most. Just in one night alone I had to turn on switch for more than 20 times. Very uncomfortable and bad condition house. Not Highly recommend to stay at this house. There is no central heating, fire place is not good enough to heat up the whole place and there is no fire guard nor smoke alarm, highly recommend parent with kids to avoid this hazardus place . It’s a piece of junk. Plus we got this following mesg from owner after booking with them and payment gone through- bring your own sheets- bring your towels- bring your pillow cases- one bag of fire wood for each nightSo basically you can’t cancel coz air Bnb will charge you $66, and you will be stuck with booking.
