Golden Bell Chinese Restaurant

This was such a disappointing experience. Firstly the ambience of the restaurant I can only describe as sterile and dated. No tablecloths or coverings and the chairs are out of the 1960's, cushioned but no padding so your backside sinks below the 4 wooden cushion supports. The dishes are so overpriced with a fried rice at $21 and most meals at $33+. We had a Hot 'n Sour Soup which was Ok but everything in it was chopped up. The prawn dumplings were tiny but tasted OK. We were going to have a Combination Seafood in XO Sauce and fried rice but couldn't justify almost $60 so we decided on a Combination Omelette which was the worst we had ever tasted. It was a single layer omelette presented on a large dessert plate, so it sunk down in the centre and had a pool of gravy on top in the centre. The combination was a mix of pork, chicken, beef and onion with no discernable seafood or veges. We were only in Chatswood for the one night and I'm so disappointed we discovered this restaurant. Never again.

This was the worst meal I have experienced in yearsThe seafood was not fresh it was off. Fried rice looked and tasted like leftovers. Only thing good was ice tea but $8.50 each over priced. Meal cost total $72 I will never go back never if meal was free. There menu looked good but food nothing like photos. They need new cook ASAP

I always order take away whether for dinner or lunch for a while now, and I don't get charge extra for chicken chowmien and this time they want to charge me extra $3.80. This amount of $3 80 is not much but the principle behind it. Is it they can charge anything they like? Or is it depends on the day on what mood they are in? What happened to the loyalty and relationship to the customers? I guess we all know the answer..Nothing! -Shocking!

Had work Xmas dinner there today, food was great! Loved the Peking Duck with Pancakes and San Chow Bow. The rest of the dishes was also served with fresh ingredients, good flavouring and generous serving size. Bathroom was very clean which was a bonus! Owner was really lovely, will definitely visit again.

The foods and environment a bit disappointing. Foods is plain and westernised, cannot taste traditional Chinese favour. Service is good however.

I don’t normally give bad reviews, but this one is SO BAD.. just have a look at the photo, we ordered half Peking duck and waited for 50 mins. We have had plenty of Peking ducks elsewhere, and No Place only offers six small pieces of ducks for 40 bucks. Also anyone have had Peking duck knows what kind of shallots you should have in the wraps, I highly doubt the kitchen just served us with whatever was left from other dishes..AND the sauce..you can just get those ones from grocery stores, and check how much water they have mixed in with the sauce!The other dishes we ordered were also disappointing, but nothing is as bad as this duck.It’s not cheap, and you gotta wait for hours, and it doesn’t taste good.

The menu on the Google website says the preserved egg congee is $15.60, but they charged me $23. The reason is because I bought it during dinner hour on a weekday. I understand the extra charges but an increase of almost $8 seems abit absurb to me. That's a whopping 47% increase in price. I ordered it as a takeout. Maybe they didn't update the price in the google because this is unbelievable.The congee tastes really good fortunately

Please avoid going to this place!I ate here with my friends couple of times. It was good until the owner started working here daily. She always tries hard to sell seafood. If you don’t order seafood then she’s giving you a mistreat. Few days ago we ate there and I gave her my RSL membership card. She said “honey it doesn’t do anything”. After we left the restaurant my family reminded me I suppose to get 10% off with being a RSL member so we returned to the restaurant for a partial refund. We queued 30mins for the refund as there were other people asking for their money back for the same reason. During the wait time, I checked the receipt and realised the prices on menu are slightly different from the prices on receipt (not sure if it’s because they mark prices on menu without GST) , also we were a party of 7and the owner charged tea for 9 people! Except that, food isn’t fresh. The combination chow mein came with BBQ pork which didn’t taste fresh at all. It looks like they use leftover meat for fried rice or chow mein. Chatswood RSL needs to action on an investigation into the owner’s behaviours. It’s destroying RSL’s reputation.

Easy going and simple Chinese food for two, seafood and tofu hot pot with steamed kampung chicken with steamed rice. Fast and friendly service too!

Really affordable delicious Cantonese style Chinese food restaurant in Chatswood RSL. The service is great and so too is the selection of food choices. I ordered braised chicken with cashew nuts and fried pork ribs with Peking sauce. Generous portions and authentic, the pork ribs were delicious and meaty. They are really fast with the food service and you will receive 10% discount if you show the Chatswood RSL membership card. Highly recommended.
