Lindsay Courtois Furniture Restoration

Lyndsay came to the rescue when the radiogram I had ordered for my partner's birthday arrived very damaged with two of the legs snapped right off. He replaced the wood so perfectly you can't even tell where it was broken, and all in time for my partner's birthday - what a champion, and a nice guy, would highly recommend.

I was referred to Lindsay by Kim Oliver, Interior Decorator of Inside Room, Burradoo and Leslie Turner of Interiors For You, Bowral.I have an antique chaise lounge, now well over 160 years old, my Mother had acquired in 1974.In recent years, I have coveted this item and wanted to have it restored and reupholstered so that it may be a practical, usable piece of furniture in my home.Lindsay Courtois is the Tina Turner of restoration and upholstery…simply the best ! What was a tired and dated antique chaise lounge has now been transformed into a magnificent, beautiful piece with an updated lilt that fits in perfectly and now used daily.Lindsay’s workmanship, attention to detail and quality of work is obvious at first glance. New legs were made by Lindsay, crafting and turning them on a lathe, renewing old and damaged sections of the English mahogany frame, and creating a new colour that has transformed the item. Over a hundred years ago this humble oak blanket box was made by a family member. I was told the oak came from an old ship hull. For many years though it was unloved strung up on a country shed roof inhabited by the local mice and insects.Some years I rescued it. Years of dust and animal remnants were removed as it was about to start a new life as a family coffee table.Recently Lyndsay Courtois restored my dowdy, damaged, black box into a beautiful piece of furniture highlighting the oak wood features and retaining the simplicity.How lucky are we to have such a craftsman in our midst.Sarah from Bowral.

I have been looking for awhile for someone locally in Wollongong to restore my late Mum, Lynette Holz, Writing Desk from back when she was 13 in 1956; restoring it to what it would have looked like when Mum received it from her parents. It had been stored in the garage for years but never got around to repairing it for Mum. After losing Mum to Parkinson's in April 2021 I wanted to restore the Writing Desk in Honour of my dear Mum and keep it as a family heirloom for years to come. I was very disappointed to have a much loved Aussie cedar chest of drawers develop deep cracks across the entire length of the top. I looked for quite some time for someone to repair this item before finding Lindsay Courtois on line. I am so happy with the repair and restoration and french polishing work that Lindsay has done on my piece and he also had to rectify the supposed restoration work done in Sydney some 20 years ago. He is very professional and talented and I would highly recommend him.

Lindsay's transformation of our large, antique buffet was superbly done. His craftsmanship, perfected and refined over his life-time, is second-to-none. The buffet had loses to the veneer in multiple places, Lindsay replaced the missing pieces and with his expert finishing of the piece, those areas of repair are completely invisible to the viewer. It has to be said that he is a Master of his craft. I have a long list of items that I will be sending Lindsay's way!
