After searching unsuccessfully for a flat block of land close to services to build a new house in which to age in place we decided that a lift was the solution to building an easily accessible house. When researching residential lifts, we discovered that all but one were manufactured overseas making repairs or spare parts potentially slower to obtain and more expensive. Only the Resilift product was Australian designed and made. However, when we heard that these lifts don’t have a door we were daunted. It only took a couple of viewings of installed Resilifts to be convinced that this was not a problem. From the beginning of our build, the Residential Lift Company, Erica, the Melbourne distributor, and her team worked in well with our builders and were on hand whenever the construction team needed advice or instruction as the build progressed. The lift is easy to use and invaluable in our daily life as the living area of our house is quite high above the garage. The benefits of this product are convenience, ease of access for elderly visitors and babies in prams, ease of movement of heavy objects and groceries, and ease of operation. As far as we can see, the only argument against is the fact that the lifts are only designed to span two floors. The lift is compact and unobtrusive, and well constructed, and the company services it upon request. As well, Resilift lift is the most economical option available. We would unequivocally recommend Resilift to anyone interested in installing a lift, either including it in a new build or as a retrospective installation.Kate Caelli
