Sustainable, elegant work from a master craftsman. Our long anticipated, beautiful bedroom furniture was delivered this week. Christian Cole and his team have created a masterpiece of craftsmanship that shows how much love, skill and thought is poured into their work.Many years ago we commissioned chairs from Christian for our wedding present from our friends and family. These chairs are red gum and sit around our old 3.5m printers table at the heart of our home. When we finally got around to renovating our bedroom in our 1920s home we wanted something that was unique, would bring us daily joy, was timeless and would be something treasured by our family into the future. We knew Christian could do this for us and tracked him down again.Christian came out to our home and talked through the space, our practical needs and our desire for something that was an artwork in itself. We weren’t in a hurry so we had time for Christian to source the most perfect Australian Messmate (Tassie Oak or Vic Ash) wood to recycle into the piece. His attention to detail is breathtaking. The curved corners with the finger joinery is a highlight. The way the grain of the timber is matched and flows from draw to draw is why he wins awards. Christian customised his original design to meet my request for a much larger and longer bureau with a narrow felt lined, divided jewellery draw running along the top.All through the process of making the furniture Christian touched base on the finer details - right down to checking what height our new mattress would be to ensure the bedhead was perfect. When it came time to install our furniture Christian’s team were on site for several hours ensuring it was handled with the care and respect it deserved. Much time was spent levelling the furniture to fit the nature of our old wonky house.This furniture is bespoke, sturdy, solid, made with integrity and obvious pride. You can feel that Christian Cole loves his job. He is an excellent craftsman who will create the best art pieces (it's not just furniture) and highlight the beauty of the timber. We came 5 years ago to look at his work and many other places around Melbourne. The only place that brought us back to him is that feeling you get through what he has created and how Christian is dedicated to beautiful craftsmanship. It's not about selling you something, it's about to go beyond that extra step to deliver something unique. I ordered 2 timber stools from Christian Cole and they are beautiful. There was a slight problem with one of them so I emailed to tell them. Christian rang back immediately and arranged for a new stool to be sent to me in Sydney - I couldn't be happier with the prompt, personal and friendly service. As for the stools themselves, they look amazing and are incredibly comfortable to sit on. I look forward to buying more beautiful furniture in the near future.

Christian and his team have absolutely done it again! After a colleague had his desk custom made by Christian, I knew I had to have one as well.
