We were in Footscray and a long way from home and really wanted to try African food. We walked past Sheger Cafe Bar and Restaurant and went in because it looked so welcoming. It was airy and bright and the chairs were comfy and made of good quality timber. There was a fan softly blowing on this hot day and we really appreciate it when someone takes time and effort to provide a comfortable space for their customers to enjoy. Asamenew could tell that we were interested in Ethiopian food so adjusted the menu a bit so we could try a few different things which we really liked. We rarely write reviews but feel that this nice restaurant is worth of attention. Thanks for having us Asamenew.

I love Ethiopian food and we are spoilt here in Melbourne with some of the best and Sheger certainly gets a mention in that list.The food was lovely and great value for money. Would definitely go back.

Had a pleasant experience dining here. The Lamb Tibi was quite delicious. The owner was kind enough to serve us a small side of lentils when asked for a quantity outside the menu options.The coffee smelled really nice and was served in a traditional setting.The service was a little bit slow, and the online menu pricing could be updated.Had a lovely meal overall

Food was okay, though certainly not the best Ethiopian around here. Cafe and service mediocre, but we were scammed. Online and in the cafe it said that the food we ordered was $12 each, which would have been appropriate. When I went to pay I was told to pay $20 per meal. I queried this, but was told that the website should have been updated". Disappointing - certainly won't be returning."
