In the past 5 years I have found METS to be an extremely valuable addition to my triathlon training. It has enabled me to adapt my training zones to my exact physiological requirements. One example is that instead of being in what I thought was Zone 2 (Aerobic) during my long runs, I was actually in Zone 1 (Active recovery). The end result being that I was wasting a lot of time not getting the optimal improvements that I was targeting. I would recommend METS for anyone who wanted some analytical knowledge to improve their training.

I have worked with the METS team and had my VO2 Max, Sweat, lactate and other things tested. Not only did i find the information useful it was really good sitting down with one of their team after all the test and get some 1 on 1 feed back on where they thought I should focus my training to get the most out of it and get bigger gains from my training. At 38 I ran a 2.32 marathon and it was a big PB!!

As a cyclist in my late 50's I wanted to improve and went to METS to get a baseline from which to improve. On the day of the test everything went smoothly and the data report I received was very thorough and very well explained. Nick then advised on a training plan to suit my needs e.g. my HR zones are much higher than the average person and based on old metrics of HR and VO2 calculations I would have been training too easily. Plan was straightforward and have been following it for quite a while now. Highly recommend to any athlete who wants to get better or is curious as to where they are at.

I've had testing at METS with Luke and Nick a few times now. It's been great. Really informative and gives you such a deep understanding of how your body and fitness is and responds to aerobic and anaerobic work. The guys are super informative and helpful too explaining all the different analysis info and what it means. If you are curious about how VO2 Max testing might help your training, you definitely need to speak to the boys and get a test booked in.

I highly recommend Luke and the team at METS performance. I’ve been sending my athletes (Runners and Triathletes) to METS Performance for over 6 years now for VO2 Max testing. The resultant data in invaluable to coach, providing current aerobic and anaerobic fitness, individual training zones, strengths, weaknesses that eliminate the guesswork I have had in the past when structuring individual training programs.

I managed to increase ~250+w (from ~950w to ~1200w) of sprinting power from 2months of training (even on and off! :P) with 2000w program. Very happy with the result as I immediately won some crit races and got few KOM segments as well.I also did the full testing program few times.It is interesting to know what are my limiters so I can do the right workout to improve those limiters and train at the right zone.The team are very friendly and approachable as well.If your performance has been static for a long time then I would recommend you to try them out.

As a distance swimmer I was curious to know what my VO2 max was, as it isn’t focused on too much in the sport. I was pleasantly surprised at METS’ scientific approach in using the data to help identify my weaknesses and how I should adapt my training to strengthen them. Amazing experience working with METS. Was given a detailed and thorough report along with thoughtful personalised training recommendations. Nick was extremely generous with his time in talking about training and my data, and answering all follow up questions I had. In addition he has been generous enough to answer any follow up questions via email. Could not recommend working with these guys enough!
