After years of looking and finally finding the perfect acre block with lovely large trees in a nice neighbourhood we decided it was time to build! This involved the surveying and BAL assessments and this is where we hit a brick wall with the generic assessments that are being produced en masse by some of the larger engineering firms. Not to dwell on this negative experience but we were essentially told to denude our beautiful block of its trees. Stricken, but unable to accept this we explored the options for alternate assessors. We had Bushfire Prone Planning recommended to us through several friends and other corporate contacts we have and decided to engage them for a site meeting. We managed to meet the MD Mike down on our block for a face to face chat about our situation and showed him the land we were working with. After he had had a chance to evaluate for himself and talk to us with regards to proper maintenance for bush blocks he went away to complete our BAL assessment. We were stunned and amazed to have our BAL assessment come back reduced by several levels without having to destroy any of our trees! This has saved us thousands on our build and saved 4 x 20m+ trees and numerous smaller ones from being cut down. Do not use them!They do not respect their clients and will do anything to get more money out of you. They are very nice at first, but it does not last.PS- you can legally do the BAL assessment yourself.
