The Barwon Heads Golf Club

Lovely spot for a quiet drink and dinner.

I was staying with some friends in Geelong and made the trip out to Barwon Heads on a Friday afternoon. The employees at the pro shop were very helpful. They were out of hire clubs, so the guy helping me made a set from the shop below, and it was the best for hire set I had all trip. The course is beautiful, challenging (especially the rough), and pace of play was great. Highly recommend.

A gorgeous historic place to visit.

Course was great. Traditional links style. Great condition. Clubhouse is beautiful. However receptionist in the clubhouse was full of herself and not the most pleasant. For the service I received, the green fees were over the top. Plenty of courses in the area of similar style and condition that are much cheaper. I acknowledge the clubhouse is beautiful but I am there to play golf, not sit in the clubhouse.

60th Bday boys weekend away. 3 course la cart dinner with delicious choices or food and drinks. 19 of us, each with luxury Double bedroom/ shower. Amazing rich furnishings, open fire places and amazing view of the course. 18 holes, and well cared for greens, delightful staff and brought us cold drinks halfway through the course. A time to remember!

There are no hidden hazards, and no hidden bunkers at Barwon Heads. Our host, who was a marvelous player with a game I envied, said that what you see is what you get at Barwon, and how right he was! With the challenge laying fully exposed in front of you, the golf course was a great test of golf!The par 3’s at Barwon Heads are spectacular! Ranging in a variety of distances, I hit everything from 8 irons to 4 irons. Positioned in every direction, the wind was always of consideration.Three, four, five and six were a particularly outstanding set of golf holes.With undulating slopes, and consistently offering wonderful tight lies, the fairways were great! The winter rough wasn’t penal, but that might be different in the summer with a longer cut.Traditional in taste, and full of rich history, the Clubhouse at Barwon Heads is one of the most impressive clubhouses that we have seen throughout our golfing journey. We took our time admiring the historic photos and hickories lining the hallways.

Went to stay in ocean Grove and drive past a few times and looked really nice
