We came in for Valentine's lunch and were nicely surprised with a good quality Mexican meal.Being Latina and from the American desert Southwest I am pretty critical of a lot of Australian Mexican food. This is by far the best restaurant we have come across so far and we found all of the dishes to be quite authentic. I would classify it more as Baja Mexican and it was quite enjoyable.The margaritas were wonderful, had two rounds and it happens to be happy hour. Score!Guacamole was creamy and fresh, the shrimp fajitas were quite yummy, wonderfully seasoned but I would have liked to see the capsicum and onion more chard, the ceviche was nice, first time I've had it with swordfish, usually we have had other white fish or even shrimp but this was enjoyable as well - but I would say a little bit on the salty side.The service was friendly, and the restaurant is clean and open. They even have several tables outside for outside dining. We will definitely be back, and we will try other items on the menu.

Loved the food, jalepeno poppers were a nice way to kick off the meal. Staff were attentive and efficient. The food came out fast, like really fast.Great value for money, lively atmosphere. The manager there was running the place smoothly. The burrito was great on its own, didn't need guacamole or sour cream. The pork in the burrito was so flavoursome with a bit of crunch, brilliant.

A group of us had dinner here last night. It’s not my first visit, but I’ve never been motivated to write a review before. We had an awesome night. It’s very loud when it’s busy, which it usually is. But that gives the place its vibe and energy. The drinks are honest. The food is honest. The service is friendly and efficient. Freshie Mex is a genuine neighbourhood gem. Don’t overthink it - they don’t pretend to be more or less than good food & drinks at Avery reasonable prices.

Ordered the vegan bean burrito. Had a piece of meat in it. Didn’t realize till I was chewing it and spit it out. Kind of random that there was one piece of meat hidden in there. Makes me really suspicious of their kitchen standards to have cross contamination like that. Expect better standards when they have a special vegan menu. Imagine if I had a meat allergy. Insane!

I really enjoy eating here. It's a really great local spot with a friendly team. Nothing is ever a hassle or bother.The menu is interesting with a lot of vegan and veggo options too.The servings are delicious and filling and also exciting to eat.And the margaritas!Outside is dog friendly and water bowls happily provided.Pictured is the chicken nachos w/beans, and Baja fish taco with chorizo haloumi taco. Also margarita!

Came in for lunch today and the food was awesome. It’s hard to find vegan food these days, let along good vegan food. But freshie mex nailed it. The enchiladas were awesome and definitely worth the 1.5 hour drive. Would come back again just for a snack! Highly recommend

We have been supporting this business since they open, but unfortunately we will stop after a couple of times having issues with food and not showing the best costumer service.I once had a jackfruit burrito bowl with the jackfruit not being seasoned whatsoever, it looked like it was just poured from a can.And now second time, I had a fish burrito bowl, and the fish was completely raw.I have that order almost every second week and it has never been raw, but when I called to complain the person that answer just said that they always make it raw. Their menu says lightly sear, but this was fully raw.Only after we kept complaining they only offer to recook it, but it was a take away order, so it’s already been another 45 minutes and having to go back again, I would’ve expected something else than just to re do it Or give a discount for a future order.Working in many restaurants over the years when a mistake is done usually we would try to make it up to people, not waste peoples time and just remake the food.

We ordered 5 different dishes and they were are delicious. The watermelon and pineapple margaritas were also a hit. We had a great time, I highly recommend Freshie Mex.
