BlueCare Mareeba Aged Care Facility

Lovely environment, helpful team, good selection of activities..

I worked at Gardens Settlement several shifts as AIN, and I can’t resist of leaving a comment.The AIN staff (the big part of the staff) is extremely professional and caring , and they treat the residents as it should be. Comparing to other nursing homes, I believe Garden settlement is outstanding.I would not hesitate of leaving a relative at their care.Thank you

Some of the staff there deserve a medal. I hope management supports them as they make the place better for the residents

Two senior people made me feel very unwelcome an uncomfortable,apart from that the rest of the staff were very friendly an helpful.

Firstly I want to say that the carers at this facility do the best they can given the circumstances. Unfortunately we were very unhappy with the management who didn't communicate effectively with the family at all. The last straw happened today which was mum's last day there. She has dementia and I had emailed the manager and clinical nurse to say that we wanted mum to believe that my sister was just taking her out for the day and that my brother would then go in and pack up her room. Imagine how my sister felt when she walked into the wing and saw a trolley with garbage bags holding our mother's belongings. Then imagine her walking into the room and finding the bed stripped and cupboard door open displaying it's emptiness. Mum was sitting on her couch which had been moved away from it's usual place and was sleeping. We can't be sure how long she had been asleep for but we can imagine her feelings if she had seen her room being emptied or sat there looking at the empty cupboard. She is still aware of those sort of things.I am totally disgusted that this had to happen to a person like my mother who has lived in Mareeba for over 50 years and is loved by all that have met her.We hope that this never happens to anyone else.
