Wests Illawarra

We went for the Easter raffles. The raffle was great and the free face painting was awesome. But we had a table with 6 adults and only 1 adult enjoyed their meal. So would recommend for amenities and events but would definitely not recommend for food from the bistro.

Enjoyed a wonderful lunch on my mum's 90th birthday in Artisan room with the entire family. Staff were really lovely. Space was great and we all loved the food. Thank you Wests!

My group visited together for the first time tonight and the service at the dessert bar was dreadful. The staff member could not have been more miserable and when our 5 desserts were delivered to the table, were all terrible. All 4 soft serves were half melted, apple pies and brownies were cold, tiny portions for $14. We ordered them because they’re supposed to be warm desserts. What a waste of time. Won’t be back.

Staff were friendly and helpful, place was clean and food was fresh and tasty as well as reasonably priced.

Cocktail was excellent, food was a little lacking. We attended for a function recently and were just a bit disappointed with the offerings; a colleague and I had dietary requirements and received a pumpkin salad for entrees, and a pumpkin risotto for mains... the other guests at the table said their food was fine, just dry or over-cooked. Panacotta for dessert though was delicious!We will return though and try one of the food outlets instead next time as I know how hard function food can be to get right.

Having looked on line at the menu and being Coeliac I found there were a couple of items that could potentially work.To say I was wrong is an understatement!!!Upon approaching the kitchen staff to speak to the chef in regards to my dietary requirements, the male chef was very polite, listened, then explained which meal would be most appropriate for me.The female member of staff, be she a chef or kitchen hand I am not sure which, being both short in stature, short on personality and even shorter still on manners, barked out her response “no don’t have time to clean boards, knives etc. so your food will end up being cross contaminated.”I think what I find most disappointing, is the attitude of the female staff member.Also, not being able to have dietary requirements met in this day and age is disgraceful.This is a poor reflection of this establishment and something that senior management need to look at and address.At best there was less than 80people in the restaurant with a staff of 5 on the pass.I know only too well how hard hospitality can be having managed and worked in hospitality for over 30yrs.This was by no means a busy night, especially when the industry is crying out how hard it is after Covid.Wests Illawarra, you really need to lift your game and perhaps have your staff retrained.My advice if you have ANY dietary requirement, then Wests Illawarra is definitely NOT the place to go!Manners are for free!Perhaps what they should also do, is gain a true meaning of the restaurant name… Artisan….A worker in a skilled trade, making/creating things by hand!I think not!

What happened to the club we used to know and love. Beautiful renovations and looks great. Shame its lacking in all else. Kitchen staff must be untrained. How else can you explain the poor quality cooking? Burnt schnitzels. Cold chips. Soggy frozen vegetables. Overpriced for anything you order. Chefs specials? What a laugh. Horrible. Inviting friends from Sydney to dinner there was an embarassment sorry to say. And make it a family friendly spot to eat again please. Add something to keep the young teens entertained....seeing as they can't entertain themselves playing the hundreds of pokies available...which were all but empty anyway. Bring back good food please!!...we don't mind paying if it's quality and paletable.
