Hooked on Seafood Maclean

Alright. Not fantastic. Very oily even for seafood. Waited 30 mins for food. Good sizing though.

Got to admit and hard to say but probably the worst fish and chips I have ever had. Hoki way overcooked, where the edges were rock hard and grey. Chips undercooked and calamari very dry, rubbery and over cooked. Fish was the worst. Service was ok, no tar tar as offered, lemon was the highlight. Selection of fresh fish for sale as well.

I was a bit nervous after the extremely mixed reviews but the “Dinner for 2” was delicious. The calamari and prawns were fresh and tender, the large pieces of fish were moist inside a very crunchy, slightly dense batter and the chips were good. Plenty of lemon wedges and seafood sauce were added to garnish. Definitely recommend it as a place to stop for takeaway fish and chips.

First time there. The staff were very good and very busy .we didnt have to wait very long for our take away food was hot and tasty.

I had interstate visitors and we were keen to get some fish and chips, being a good place where fresh fish is caught. First, they sell Hoki, which is Indonesian, not local!The service was abysmal and the food equally so. No flake available despite it being on the sign out the front. We ordered 4 pieces of battered fish, 1 grilled. Poor boy taking the order got confused. Crossed out 1 of the battered, then put it back but added 3 more grilled. Finally got it right. When we got our order home it was to find 1 grilled and 1 battered only. The battered fish was so small we thought it was a potato scallop. Drove back to the shop where the 'manager?' was determined to show us we hadn't ordered the rest. The docket proved it was ordered and paid for, but no apology or discount or anything. Really awful experience. Find somewhere else to go if you want fish and chips. The hamburger was decent.

These guys were so so nice to a weary traveller and food was incredibly yummy - eating area next to the river is unbelievable at sunset
