Entered with no real expectations, but loved it. Well presented. Recommend you allow yourself plenty of reading time if you enjoy that sort of thing.

The Furneaux Museum at Emita on Flinders Island showcases the cultural and natural history of the Furneaux Group of Islands. A large and varied collection of artefacts, historical records and natural history is housed in the Museum complex. Most of the Museum's buildings are themselves historic, with highlights being the first government subsidised school and the Whitemark Police cells from 1916.Visit the Furneaux Museum to learn about the people, places and events that have shaped Flinders Island: shipwrecks, muttonbirding, farming, island families, the Soldier Settlement Scheme, the Wybalenna settlement, local fauna, shells, geology and much more.

I was born on the island and still have family connections, the museum has offered some very fascinating insights into my family and it’s intertwined connections to all aspects of the islands history

Great asset to Flinders Island. Some very interesting items on display. Spent a couple of hours and could've spent more time there. One room with reference files on many local aspects. Helped inform me as to a greater understanding of the island past ad present.
