SO SAD!! This was easily the best F&C shop in our area but Vic has recently sold the business and it's not the same anymore. They used to have the most amazing potato cakes (so thick & yet still crunchy) and crunchy chips and the best gummy flake. Went there yesterday and the potato cakes are SOO thin now and the chips are just so so. Not as good as some others in the area now, Surrey Hills F&C (similar name but no relation) in Riversdale Rd near Through Rd corner is probably now the pick of the crop in this area. Shame. :(

we ordered the burger pack for two, and god what a nice surprise. the burgers were so thick and hearty with generous serving of chips. The service was quick and friendly, definitely enjoyed the meal, 10/10

Just read the review below, but have to say I have bought hamburgers a few times since the business changed hands and I'm pleasantly surprised. Remember the taste of the old-fashioned hamburger with the lot in a paper bag, that's exactly what I've experienced every time. Old-fashioned price too! Cheers, Simon J.

Honestly, what a joke. Didn't receive all of our order. Potato cakes are hard as a rock. The calamari was all batter. Pineapple fritters were the same. Never again!

Went in there the other night not knowing owners have changed, they've obviously changed the oil and batter as fish and chips were extremely oilly and we all had a sick feeling after it. We went to this shop for 6 years, when the Greek guys owned it they always had quality food; never missed a beat. Since they have changed which I assume is recently as there was obviously a hand over being undertaken, they've changed something drastically. Anyone going in there will be able to tell both oil and batter has changed. It's a shame they couldn't keep up this quality, won't go there again unfortunately. Anyone local who goes there will most certainly relate.

Really nice owner ordered duo pack. The best CHIPS hands down. Crispy on the outside soft on the inside, the owner saw we were hungry and shouted us dim Sims and extra CHIPS. Best.local.fish.chips LEGEND

Good fish and chips is unfortunately a dying art in Melbourne these days.... I have been in the area for a long time and it was never an issue to find a good product, but now it is. George and Anna in Canterbury, David in Surrey Hills... all gone... such a relief to find a brilliant operator in the area ! One of the best fish and chips I have ever had. Faultless. Quite often the paper at the bottom of the pack is see through with all the drained fat - not one drop of fat here. Generous portion, well cooked, great quality, clean looking shop and pleasant staff. Thank goodness we have a good operator in the area again !

Not sure about the other reviews here...but I've been going here for about 6 months, every week. Met the old owners and the new are both are great. The food is just as good as the previous. We always get amazing warm service and bloody yum food.

Very hit & miss since the new owners took over. The oil being used for the chips doesn’t really work for me, instead of being a nice yellow the chips have a brown tinge and don’t taste that great. Think I’ll give this place a miss for awhile, it’s a shame as the previous owner was awesome.
