Exorbitant pricing!We engaged Coulthard Shim to take a look at some small cracks in the bricks in our home to make sure they were not indicative of a bigger issue as suggested by our building inspector. It took 4 months after we first contacted them for somebody to actually turn up to take a look.They were here for 45 minutes to take a look around and take some photos. While they were here we were told that it probably wasn't going to be an issue and that we should keep an eye on the cracks for 12 months to make sure they don't change.They then produced a report which mostly included information we had given them (so wasn't helpful to get it back from them) such as the size and location of the cracks as well as some general information about the layout of the house. The report also included the suggestion to keep an eye on them for 12 months. The report didn't contain any useful information that we hadn't already provided to them or were already told at the site visit so in my opinion the report was basically worthless.For this we were charged $2,090. We pointed out some inconsistencies in the invoice such as where it said the site visit was 1.4 hours (@$300/hr) (it was actually only 45 minutes and travel time in my opinion couldn't possibly have been more than 10 minutes - not to mention site visit prep" was charged additionally as another $90) but they refused to correct the clearly incorrect invoice.I don't believe it is fair to charge this amount of money (most of which was for the report I deem worthless) for such a small amount of work (again - just recommending keeping an eye on it for 12 months - for over $2
