The Salty Fox Rooftop Bar
Here is a rooftop bar atop the Rydges airport hotel in Coolangatta. Sensational spanning views from Surfers Paradise through to Kirra. And well, there is always something cathartic about watching planes come and go.They feature a well rounded drinks and food menu, with plenty there for not just the avid traveler but also thirsty conference goers (of which we were both). I should also give credit to the fact they have put a fair amount of effort into make the f&b sit above being just an average airport bar. This would be someowhere you choose to take someone to dine. The bar gets quite busy from 5pm onwards.There is under-cover parking at the hotel and of course nearly every kind of public transport available to and from the airport.We held a conference at this venue, and having organized/held/sponsored over 1000 conferences I was amazed by the professionalism of all the staff at this venue. From the f&b through to the event planners there was no issue to big or small from handling people and personalities through to last minute direction changes. I was incredibly impressed by Tash, who demonstrated patience, and professionalism all day and really worked hard to make the day special for us and the attendees.Not like any other airport hotel and attached rooftop bar, this one felt like one I actually wanted to be at.I’d highly recommend this venue for anything really. A stop over, to base yourself for a business trip, or even as we did a conference. Of course, I’d better secure our position as a conference here for the next tens years, before the secret gets out and we are priced out of the game.

We visited the Salty Fox on a Sunday afternoon to take in the live music and to try the food on offer. The venue offers a great view and beautiful ambiance, with friendly staff and beautiful cocktails; the bar staff even made me a special mocktail on request which was very nice.We ordered the Tempura Prawns and Pork Belly mains. The pork belly was very dry and hard to cut, and there were little to no sides, which left me very hungry indeed. The prawns were literally just 5 deep fried prawns and barely any dipping sauce. We had to ask for more sauce as they were quite bland and dry without it.While they were tasty, they were very small servings and quite expensive. I probably wouldn't recommend coming here for a full meal, while these are great snack options, they will set you back the same cost of a full meal at a restaurant. Quite pricy.We decided to have a dessert as we were still hungry. I had the Mango Mess, which was nice once again but not great, not enough meringue or mango and way too much cream. The tiramisu had a really strange flavour (very different to other tiramisu we've had in the past). Unfortunately, we left half of it as we didn't enjoy it.All in all its a lovely spot for an afternoon drink with friends, but I wont be ordering any food next time.

Our staycation at The Rydges Gold Coast Airport was just fabulous. The hotel was beautiful, with a vibrant coastal aesthetic. A key highlight was The Salty Fox Rooftop Bar that served great live music and cocktails. Cannot wait to visit again!

Nice views, live music and decor. Our food was all right. Margarita was nice. Sunday lunch was a bit quiet (with 1 staff that looked a bit overwhelmed) but picked up later in the afternoon. We should try again on a Saturday.

Unexpectedly staying in the hotel due to the floods making my original destination inaccessible. Read a couple of poor reviews on the steak but decided to order it anyway and hope for the best. Poor choice by me. I ordered a medium steak with mushroom sauce. What came out was a very well done steak with wine jus sitting on a bed of cold mash with two pieces of aggressively charred carrot. The steak was chewy and difficult to cut and the meal overall was hugely disappointing. Would not recommend.

While the the view in a top branded hotel might be a selling point, a resent visit (my 2nd) confirmed the poor bartender service and menu selection hasn't changed. Meals of Flathead with chips and Caesar Salad were certainly not value for money or very appetising. Also if you want to use the chain loyalty card, nope, privately owned restaurant. Love the hotel though.

We paying $40+ dollar for each person and try to enjoying the new year eve in here, the ticket is come with one drinks and canapés. When I was in the queue one of the customer in front of me are ordering the corona beer with his voucher, so I decided to order same as him. But the bartender with white shirt told me that the voucher can’t get the corona beer, I was “WTH” and thinking what happen here? The guy just take the corona beer with the voucher 5 seconds ago, one of the guy with pink shirt look like manager in the bar ask the bartender did he serve the corona, and he lied in front of everyone, and the pink shirt gentlemen don’t care what I trying to say and just said don’t want argue with me. I was what again?? Argue?? I just try to get a beer, I don’t want any argument with anyone, the pink shirt gentlemen still smile on me with no respect and don’t care at all, so I just decide to pay for the beer without the voucher.What I’m trying to mention here is not about the $9 corona beer, we always can pay the money at all time, we spending thousand of dollars to stay in the downstairs Rydges hotel too, but this kind of customer service and training is so bad and disappointed, totally double standards serving customer, is that the reason I’m look like Asian so not deserve the fair service?

Had a great experience at the Salty Fox!! Fabulous margheritas made by a very talented barman. Forrest crafted me a watermelon margheritas and my friend had a coconut Chili one! So yummy!! We shared a crocodile burger and the calamari!! First time eating croc! It was tasty!! Overall a great way to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon!! The view is also great!! He made an incredible bloody mary!! OMG!! SO GOOD! Highly recommended!! Come and see for yourself!!
