The Surveyor General Inn was great. Atmosphere was good and all the staff very friendly with a big shout out to Keryn for being especially helpful and so, so friendly with grandchildren. Food was excellent. Would definitely recommend it.

Food: not good.Garlic bread: You could knock a nail in with it. Think it’d been heated several times to the point of incineration.Caesar salad: ok but again a slice of reheated prosciutto which made it go rubbery. One weird anchovy swimming amongst the lettuce.Schnitzel: extremely overcooked and dry. Needed a saw to cut through. Chips no better.Pub is great but what’s with the food?

Stunning building with artefacts, photos. The food is outstanding. Special call out to Kiera, the lady with the bright red lipstick that served us and fussed over our child's birthday. A huge personality and a genuine local that people like us from the city don't see.

We came here for a lunch stop whilst in the Southern Highlands. It's an historic pub, one of the oldest in NSW. It's got a cost atmosphere, with a fireplace to keep warm during the winter months. The food was good and hit the spot. We got the fish and chips, salt and pepper calamari and trout salad. Portions were reasonable, as were the prices. Good beers on tap to wash it all down. Worthy of a stop, if you're in the area.

The most beautiful staff and incredible service received for a long time ! The staff went far and beyond and seemed to love their jobs ! The lady with the red hair was so infectious and seemed as though she's very popular with the regulars! An absolute joy to be around. The younger girls were also incredibly kind ! They were somsweet to my boys and I was just so comfortable and so we're my 3 young toddlers . Definitely will be back again !

On a visit to the southern highlands recently I took my mum out for lunch here. It is not just a pretty building, the food was outstanding as well. The steak was the most tasty and tender steak I have had in a long while. I recommend this as great place to go to relax kick back and have a fanatic feed.

We ate at the pub on Saturday. The steak sandwich and salmon nicoise were absolutely deliciousGood to see the menu has changed with a more modern approach.Waited along time for a drink, didn’t seem to be anyone in the bar.. will be down again next weekend for a wedding, definitely be back for lunch.

Don't bother - ordered food in Bistro paid and then told Sorry none left of that dish" changed order - paid more. Wanted to order dessert but was told to order later. Ordered parma and snitzel. Food delivered 2 parmas - staff member went away came back and said that's what the order was put through as - no apology! Snitzel came still no apology - overcooked charred on edges and dry in the middle. Extremely noisy place - left without having dessert - won't be back"

If you come here for the history great, cool building and place. Don’t come for the food. Cold and mediocre at best, it’s really disappointing that places only rely on their history, location or lure and can’t provide decent grub. Disappointing.

The atmosphere was amazing, however we were left overall disappointed with the service and meal.We ordered the beef burgers and the cheese was the cheap plastic wrapped slices and when we placed the order we specified no tomato sauce. I was assured the special burger sauce was not that. Burgers came out and apparently their idea of burger sauce" was just tomato sauce and mustard. The food did come out quickly so that was a plus and the pricing was not too bad."
