Martin and the team did an amazing job on my partners home. Great communication and despite the bad weather got the job done quickly

No words but sheer despair to have found out that Martin is not a registered builder nor plumber with the VBA. He seemed friendly and genuine, and getting tradies post Covid to complete any job had been difficult, so we hired him in good faith that he knew what he was doing despite a hefty invoice amount for a job that didn't seem so big. At the completion of the job which we believed was done correctly, we were NOT presented with a Certificate of Compliance, this should have rung alarm bells. He avoided the topic. The invoice was well into the thousands of dollars and by law, a certificate should have been provided however we got nothing. Within 5 days of him 'completing' the job, during the very first drop of rain, there was a leak in the very spot he claimed he'd fixed. He's come back at least 5 or 6 times to try and correct it but all have been failed attempts. It wasn't until I called the VBA to get advice, as it was clear he simply didn't know what he was doing, that we discovered that he was not registered. Imagine our shock and disappointment. He offered to come back and fix it AGAIN (7th time) however, given that he's not registered, it's a moot point as he cannot issue us with a Certificate of Compliance. Without it, this means the insurance won't cover us. We are in the process of taking it to the next level, however I hope this review prevents someone getting ripped off like we did. Martin is not licensed or a registered Plumber, so is therefore uninsured for any damage done and also unable to provide the required Certificate of Compliance, which would offer insurance. He lied to me saying he replaced roof sheeting which I paid for, but didn't. He claimed and charged me for gutter replacement, but instead just dumped 2 new gutter sheets on top of the older gutter sheets, causing more damage than previous and a copious amount of water coming through damaging eaves and causing cracks in several areas of my ceilings, and whilst not sealing many areas making the roof unsealed in countless areas. He comes across as polite and decent but has no clue as to what he is doing without plumber licensing or registration and has taken a considerable amount of money and made my roof unprotected or sealed. He abandoned the job after he couldn't stop the deluge of water. I had to get another plumber who is licensed and registered, to fix my floods. He lied, he didn't know what he was doing, he is unlicensed and unregistered so you will have no recourse and no one should use an unregistered Plumber. He has not been in business for 20 years. Lie after lie. Don't use him. You will find out down the track.
