Unable to decide if verandah extension is legal despite my lawyers best efforts.Mistook leaking water main for irrigation setup - threatened with $200 fine if not fixed within the hour. Told cut my grass or get fined, council grass outside my house was much worse. Neighbour used our hose to fill up pool. Council agreed the massive amount of water was not used on our yard. Council employee handling the case left and they couldn't find the documents. Was told I would now have to pay excess bill as no further investigation would occur. Etc...

Stopped at Mount Isa enroute to Darwin. Beautiful town but was very surprised to find very scarce and poorly maintained public toilets and NO seating anywhere around the streets or public places, except shopping centres. This is the common opinion of the travelling public and tourists. If you are out and about on a Sunday (when shops including supermarkets are closed) and you have to answer nature's call or just need to sit down, you are in serious trouble. Even the tiniest towns provide this basic requirement. At least keep the elderly in mind. Public toilets and seats are a necessity, not a luxury.

I did not feel safe in this town. Two aboriginals put on masks and tried to break into our neighbours trailer while they where sleeping in it on our first night. Others kept looking into my car windows at night. The construction workers staying next to us at camp yell inappropriate things at you when you walk past, all I did was give a nod of my head when walking past. Don't recommend staying if you are a backpacker.
