Toodyay Miniature Trains

A quaint little town with a fun little train set. The kids didn't want to leave. The play area and route around the miniature trains provides a nice walking trek.Great timing that we were there during market day.

Friendly volunteers. Kids loved it. Worthwhile taking the kids on the 8 minutes round trip, considering how little it cost ($10 for a family of four). Yes, adults go on the trains too. There is quite a bit to do around the area. Large park with a playground and toilet facilities. Following the train ride and a play in the playground, we walked from there down the main street - so much history in the town. Well maintained and worth a day trip from Perth.

Today, one the 27th of November 2022, I took my son here to go on the train. It says it was open and closes at 3pm. We arrived at 1:20pm and nobody was there. No staff, no trains. Not even a note to say it was closed. Just us. Very disappointing because we made a one hour drive to get here. We have enjoyed it in the past though. Please make sure to update on Google maps so this doesn't happen again.

Beautiful place for kids, near the river, nice play ground, sheds, washroom available, but if you wanna sit on the train make sure you check the times, it only runs twice a month, overall lovely place.

loved these as a kid!! Now that I've left my home town I wish when I come back I am there on the right day to see them run :)

The first time we went, we had a decent experience. That was a month ago. We managed to ride the diesel train but not the other one as the train wasnt working properly the first go, and it was full the next attempt. Second time, disappointing. Today we decided to head to Toodyay for the festival. My little boy remembered the train and wanted to have a go. We got there at around 1.40pm and saw a sign that said Battery charging from 1.15 to 2pm". Ok. So we waited. Come 2pm

Beautiful scenery. Great sights. Haven’t seen a Bunyip in a while.Recommended although if you have a child/ren with sensory issues, I would steer clear. Whilst waiting in the queue for our turn, one of the younger volunteers decided it would be funny to rev his little engine as he was leaving the turntable which in turn scared the living daylights out of my 8 yr old (with noise sensory) and she automatically covered her ears. Young volunteer laughed his head off and as we embarked for our turn on the train, he decided to rev his little engine again as we passed and toot his little loud horn which in turn scared my daughter again. On our return, I made a comment to the woman volunteer that the young bloke likes to scare children and she retorted with a “we all love to”. It wasn’t until I pointed out that some kids may have sensory issues that she looked quite shocked.Trains are fun for young and old, however, knowing that you’ve scared a child, you don’t need to go out of your way to keep scaring them. Grow up.

My son won't get off! Great little ride that's really well priced for the kids, we just love the station and variety of trains.
