Tenterfield Cork Tree
Wow! This is a big call tree and the funny thing about it. It’s in Wood Street, if you want to take a look at it tune into Oz RV travels on YouTube and watch the campsites around Tenterfield.

An amazing tree with an incredible history. It's fenced off as it's on private property, but it's right on the boundary so you can get close and touch it. Legend is that if you walk around it three times and make a wish, your wish will be granted - Here's hoping it will grant our wish despite not being able to walk around it. This tree and so very many more are certainly worth the visit to Tenterfield, especially around Anzac Day as many of the trees are in beautiful Autumn colours.

This tree is incredible! It's huge and it's limbs spread out a long way. It was planted in 1861 by Edward Parker who bought it out from England and is thought to be Australia's largest cork tree (that's what the sign says). It's in a quiet street so there's no trouble parking. I am very glad I went as it's a beautiful, big, old tree. I hope it keeps going for another 160 years!

This tree is magnificent planted in the 1830s, we spoke to a lovely lady who lives across the street, she told us in a cyclone the tree just twists

It’s easy to love a massive tree whose canopy extends across the entire street AND has historical significance AND is a unique cork tree! It’s on private land but you park on the street and marvel under its shade at the sweater like cork bark of the tree. There’s a few friendly farm animals to feed if you bring carrots or some grass :)

Good to see the tree looked after. I wish people would stop taking chunks of bark off. We were particularly fond of the 2 ponies and the goat who greeted us every time we arrived.

DID YOU KNOW that cork is used for valves and insulation in buildings, railways and the nose cone of NASA Space ShuttlesThis tree was brought from England by Edward Parker and planted in 1861 it's believed to be Australia's largest cork tree. The tree has a very complex textured bark. The tree has some very useful economic benefits such asThe bark it's used mostly for cork stoppers for wine, champagne and fortified winesBark is also used to make cork board insulation and cork tiles.Cork is also used for gaskets, hockey and golf balls plus floor tiles. The acorn is used for propagation, animal fodder and cooking oils. The leaves are used for fodder and natural fertiliser.Tree pruning and old trees provide charcoal and firewood. The tannins and natural acids contained in the wood goes into various chemical products.

Great big old Cork Tree. I've never seen anything like it. I didn't realize it was in a residential area. It must annoy the residents but visit it anyway.
