Against The Grind
Very mixed feelings about Against the Grind.Pros: great quality food, great selection of sweets, Campos coffee roasted and done right. The inside sitting area is cozy and spacious, and plenty of external sitting area on a quiet street. Also love the deli where you can buy freshly cut cold meets, cheese and other deli products. 5 out of 5 for food, coffee and atmosphere.Cons: the service is inefficient and this seems to be consistent over a period of time. It takes a long time to get a coffee and/or the food when having it in. Last time we asked for table water several times and took a while to get it. 2 out of 5 for the service.Hope the service aspect can be improved as otherwise it is a great place!

Ooft. I swear I’m just handing out fives at this point... but so worth it. This place was great. Unique breakfast options (try the fried rice) and great decor. The only downside was that the drinks almost came out when the food was pretty much finished. Otherwise, bang on. Rated!

Decent food but not worth the insane price tag. >$90 for two coffees, 4 slices of bread, 2 eggs and less than half an avocado. Please learn from my mistake and spend your money smarter than this. It’s not worth it.

Coffee is good but not amazing. The taramasalata was the only saving thing for this cafe because the service was cold and blunt. No smiles, no greetings. Cups came out dirty. Dishes were expensive for the size. The mushroom toastie had about 4 small mushrooms, it was super salty and so much cheese it was sickening.This is the second time we visited the cafe and the service honestly hasn’t improved. We only came back for the pate but it was not available and the waitress just rolled her eyes and said it hasn't been available for 2 weeks.Not recommended.

We have been here for breakfast and it was pretty solid so we decided to give dinner a go. Breakfast was not bad, it was just that the wait was so ludicrous we were annoyed half of our meal turned up and the other half came 30 mins later.Dinner was great, however. The let down was the pasta which had a very sweet taste to it - just the balance of flavours were off, and mushroom pastas have so much potential to shine.The pate was wonderful and the corn spectacular. Looking forward to visiting again to try other items on the menu.

Very courteous staff even when we turned up near closing time. Generous portion. Nice coffee. In house deli section. Wouldn’t mind going back to try other items on the menu.

Some of the best coffee in neutral bay. Great spot and always pulls a big crowd. They also get cookies in from butter boy. They're amazing.The table service is pretty slow. I prefer to go to the counter to order. It does get very busy. Would also try up the road at 5 loaves 2 fish if you can't wait!

While the atmosphere, decor, vibe and service was excellent, the food and coffee was just fine. The concepts are there for some great dishes and I had very high expectations. I would visit again but don't expect to be wowed.

I cant believe how good this place is. The food is amazing, it has high quality ingredients. The wait staff are very professional and friendly. The owners are very passionate about the food and winesThe wine list has everything you need.The place has beautiful decor and great vibes.Perfect for couples or good of friends because you can share everything in menu. Highly recommended for both brunch and dinner.
