After phoning in our order and collecting we discovered the $5.00 potion of chips barely enough for 1 person let alone the 3kids and 3 adults we were feeding. Also discovered our grilled flake was missing. Back down to the shop we ordered some more chips and we're rudely told in no uncertain terms that $5.00 is the minimum!! Got home to finally eat our grilled flake and had to toss half it out for being greasy and soggy. Not happy at all.

Been going here for 20 years as it is only 100 metres from home. I usually ring in my order and turn up 10 minutes later to collect it. Almost always have the special consisting of a regular decent sized piece of fish (choice of 3: I like the blue grenadier) and a half serve of chips which is just perfect for one person, and under $10. The fish is always crispy and they treat me with the same politeness that they treat someone buying a family sized order. I have never had a problem. I like that their food is almost never oily and they don’t over salt everything. Occasionally I will call in for a snack of steamed dim sims which they also do well. Very happy with this shop and I hope they don’t close any time soon.

Not bad Chippery shop, They have served the great people of Belmont for many years... I don't understand why Fish and Chip shops have to be called Fish & Chips" it's 2023 what about "Chips & Fish" or "Sippery chippy" Thanks guys

Can't comment on the quality yet but for 'large' chips and a meal that was over $80 (there is another bag with the fish) extremely dissapointed at the serving of chips that appear to literally be a single handful.... a meal that's meant to feed 4 people. What a joke.Edit: quality was good must have been a while since I had fish and chips of this serve is the norm.

Ordered take away and was very happy with our choices. Fresh fish, crunchy chips, real potato in the potato cakes. I'll be back.

This is the best Fish and Chip Shop in Geelong! I totally recommend going, The portion size's are great and the food is amazing and there is such a wide variety of food.

Just had dinner from here and it was one of the best fish and chips I have ever had, the flake was cooked to perfection, and the chips were so tasty, chicken salt is the best and the tartare sauce was the best I have ever had, I would definitely recommend getting your food here 10/10

While driving through Geelong the other day we needed a stop for lunch and it was the best decision to stop at Barwon Fish and Chips.Tasty fish and the best potato cakes we have had. Keep up the great work to the owners.

Something is wrong with that owner (the older dark haired woman). She gives off the weirdest vibes ever, zero customer service skills.I’ve only been in here twice now, and both times she literally just stood at the back staring at me as I waited for my food. It’s like she thinks she’s medusa or something & can turn you to stone (that’s the vibe, honestly), but it’s cringe and weird. Very very weird.Since I did nothing but stand in a bust shop, I’m going to assume she hates young women.So I read the comments to the reviews on here and it seems she is just that awful natured person.The food… Well, that’s why I’ve only been twice. As a last resort.It’s overcooked or undercooked. It’s dried out or soggy. Tastes of cheap oil and too much salt. Put some oil in a glass of seawater and you’ve got yourself a potato cake from this joint.Eat/Enter at your own risk.
