Shady Gums Grampians Accessible Place

Shady Gums was a wonderful place to stay for someone like me who uses a wheelchair. It was perfectly set up for my requirements, which took the all the stress out of my time there. The outside areas were accessible and the cottage was metres away from an accessible path going all the way into Halls Gap. The cottage is surrounded by tall gums and bush, which are full of bird life.All this within the beautiful Gariwerd/ Grampians region. It has a number of fully accessible lookouts, and the area is very easy to get around in a wheelchair.My time staying at Shady Gums was so relaxing and rejuvenating, I’m already planning my next trip there!

We absolutely loved our stay at Shady Gums. The place was so beautiful and homely which is very important to me as I spend a lot of time in the home with my disability. It was also generously stocked with a hamper of treats upon arrival. Andrew was so friendly and helpful with communication, before and after our stay. He knew everything about disability needs which we sorted before arrival. I really appreciated this as it made me feel safe and able to relax on my holiday. Can't wait to return, thank you so much!! :D

We had a lovely long weekend at Shady Gums. It was exceptionally clean, organised and they have thought of every creature comfort. A house with a lovely setting and close to the township of Halls Gap. Would highly recommend.

Our children provided us a week-end of accommodation at Shady Gums as a combined Birthday present.The house is ideally fitted out for anyone with a disability - my wife has Parkinson’s Disease - and we found it perfect. Additionally the furnishings and bedding are high standard and so very comfortable. The house has a very “homely” feel with lots of lovely decorative features. Ample reading and DVD movies are provided. WiFi was very good. The house has all the latest mod-cons and was fastidiously clean. We also loved the rear deck / patio – a lovely place for an afternoon read, whilst imbibing in a wine – or two.Finally, the communications and instructions provided to us by Andrew were excellent, and hassle free.Our sincere thanks to Andrew and Norelle for providing Shady Gums. We stayed 6 wonderful nights early May 2023. Our special needs son, 39 years old, was with us on this trip.It was a marvellous treat staying in Halls Gap. Such a magical place for scenery, wild life and just relaxing.Shady Gums had everything that we needed but particularly for our son.There was a wheelchair friendly access., ceiling hoist and accessible toilet and showers. Our son even had 3 spa baths.The house was nicely heated with air conditioning plus a lovely wood fire.It seemed that everything we wanted was there e.g WiFi, TV, DVD'S as well as local information and directions.It was without doubt one of the best holidays that we have had. The house set up made it so easy for us to have a relaxing holiday.We will certainly be heading back for another holiday.Thank you Andrew and Norelle for sharing your little slice of heaven with us..Regards Vicky,David and Chris.

Shady gums is a beautifully setup spot to stay for anyone with disabilities, needing extra equipment. it has a roof hoist ready to help with transfers, ramps to all entries/exits, plenty of space to get wheelchair around without bumping into everything.it has plently of paved walkways, throughout the town to make it accessible for me to get back out into the bushlands of victoria, which i havent done for 20 years.its a great holiday stay for anyone with additional needs due to immobility. we'll definitely be back, thanks to host Andrew & norelle!

Great location and very comfortable. A ceiling hoist was provided and the bathroom and a bedroom were well set up for wheelchair access.The Grampians are so beautiful!We saw wallabies in the garden of the cottage, and lots of parrots.There was also a good wheelchair-friendly walking path just by the cottage.

Absolutely beautiful home. Everything you need is there is just pack your clothes. I was there as a support worker. This home caters extremely well for wheelchairs. Beds were very comfortable, back decking and swing gorgeous and the spa bath was the icing on the cake.
