TAFE NSW - St Leonards
Completed a short course here over the summer. It was quite enjoyable. The location of the TAFE in St Leonards is easily accessible by bus (there is a bus stop right outside that goes in both directions, located on a main road) or train (approximately a 10min walk to St Leonards station). There are also various cafes and parks close-by.The teacher that we had was extremely knowledgeable and friendly and really wanted to help. I appreciate her feedback and the time she spent to make sure we understood the concepts.Onsite, there is also a cafe/convenience store, a bubbler and ample seating area. There was a games area in our building (I think it was building J), with board/card games and also one of those old school game machines. The negatives: the organisation for the summer courses was a bit poor; we were told to come on the wrong day, and weren't given much information about it. The front staff also appeared a bit standoffish, but that may be because they also did not know what was going on. The program we needed to use was also not available on the computers, causing some problems.

The cafeteria staff are excellent. One day my finances were stretched and the food attendant gave me lunch without payment and he told me that I could pay the next week or so. The food is excellent they have grilled barramundi, pies, alot of different pasta dishes(I don't know the names of the meals exactly). Reasonable pricing. The ICT teaching department is excellent. I find studying cyber security was a heavy workload as assignments keep coming. We had the opportunity at the end of the course to do an online virtual cyber security war games scenario as a class. It was a great course but the more you learn about Cyber security the more you realise you know nothing. It's a bottomless pit. I also found that after the course alot of employers wanted people with bachelors degrees not cert 4. This wasn't very encouraging. The government announced a new skills visa last week and on the list was cyber security analysts. I think businesses should prioritise Australian citizens and permenant residence before hiring people from other countries.

Nice campus but the student kitchen is lacking a bit, no fridge.. only one microwave. But library and campus area in general is great for studying and hanging.

TAFE NSW - St Leonards
An older campus, TAFE NSW St Leonard's is located a 10 minute walk from St Leonard's train station, it is well served by several bus routes, and offers onsite parking to students and staff. The buildings themselves are dated but clean and functional. More importantly, the staff and equipment to support student learning are excellent, and additional support is available through the library and Student Services. There is a central food-court style cafeteria area, supplemented by student lounge areas with microwaves and refrigerators if you prefer to BYO. While not always the most glamorous destination, this campus is a really useful, convenient option for extending your skills and knowledge ready for industry application.

A magnificent campus. A quiet centre of learning just off bustling Pacific Highway. I am told there are many fee free courses available up to advanced diploma level. Worth checking out.
