Hubby and I decided to head out for breakfast/brunch on the recent public holiday. Perhaps not a wise idea?! This was our first time at this very Italian café – i.e. run by Italians and frequented by them too. There was a lot of chatter around us, which certainly added a touch of authenticity to the experience. Sadly, we felt very left out. As is customary, orders are taken at the counter, and food brought out to your table. The waiter who was also the chef, thumped our plates on the table with barely a word. There were no greetings, no smiles, no recognition at all. We were both surprised by the coffee; we had expected a good cuppa but no, they were weak and not a good flavour. I’ve been having a lot of coffee at my local recently, and this was nowhere near as good. But the food was good value; a good price with generous plates. Hubby chose the Vulcanici with meatballs and scrambled eggs. The meatballs had a nicely tender texture but were very bland. The menu mentions chilli, but hubby sadly could not detect any. His eggs were eggs, ok but not outstanding. I had the Salmone - poached eggs with salmon. The bread was good, serves were generous, the avo mash was very fresh (it even had tiny bits of skin to prove it) and the eggs were beautifully runny just the way I like them. We ate and ran, hoping the staff have happier days.

Lovely cafe in Newstead.We tried the cannoli, the beef arancino e coffee.I am born and bred Italian so I have high standards.For being in Australia, I give it 4 stars.The staff are very friendly.The Place is fairly small with some seats indoors and outdoors

Fantastico! One of the best pasta dishes I have had in a while. Ordered one of their lunch specials - a farfalle with chicken, pumpkin and spinach in creamy Besciamella/Aflredo sauce with just the right amount of freshly grated parmigiano reggiano on the top. The dish was so authentic, flavourful, fresh and honest.Nona quality :) - - I am so pleasantly surprised.The place is run by an Italian family.

Second visit: Came for a meeting today and had a long black. It had great intensity and depth. It was strong but smooth. Gorgeous cremar too. The biscotti was delicious too.First visit: Fantastic little place. Run by Italians. The food is delicious. We had the carbonara breakfast, crab pasta and the teramisu French toast. Tried two of the wines which are from their family winery in Mt Etna. Both the premium white and rosé were delicious however the white is more complex which I preferred. I'll definitely be back. Can highly recommend.

Pretty decent. Lovely staff, good enough food and lovely coffee. Id love to see a tad more love in the toasted sandwiches and by love I mean butter but great vibe will be back for more coffee & cannoli.

Wow. This place has me absolutely floored. The food is all to die for, the brunch menu is scrumptious, their sandwich options are amazing and their coffees are delightful.The interior of the store is quaint and ddfinitely has the mum and dads store feel to it.The service is always excellent and even after 7 visits I feel like one of the crew.The prices are absurdly cheap for the quality and quantity of food you recieve.The only thing I haven't tried is the desserts - which I will try soon and update this review to reflect those results.Honestly, get your butt here and have a huge brunch at an excellent price.
